Detailed Introduction

Mercy Dental Missions is a Madison, Wisconsin-based non-profit organization committed to addressing the critical need for accessible dental care among vulnerable and underserved populations. Their mission is to provide compassionate, life-changing dental services, aiming to alleviate pain, bring hope, restore dignity, and empower individuals to lead healthier lives. The organization operates through several key initiatives: Free Dentistry - "Day of Mercy": Mercy Dental Missions organizes annual "Day of Mercy" charitable events. These volunteer-led initiatives provide essential dental care completely free of charge to the most vulnerable members of the community. They often partner with local organizations like the Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) to reach those in need, including the homeless, refugees, and struggling families. Reduced-Cost Clinic: In addition to their free events, Mercy Dental Missions maintains a physical location at 1709 Aberg Ave Suite A, Madison, WI 53704. At this clinic, they offer quality dental care at approximately 50% of traditional costs. This service is specifically designed for uninsured and underinsured community members who have delayed dental treatment due to financial constraints. Global Missions: Extending their reach beyond local communities, Mercy Dental Missions also conducts international missions to impoverished areas in developing countries. Dedicated teams of volunteers travel globally to provide free, essential dental treatment, alleviating pain and improving overall health for populations with little to no access to dental care. Agape Grant Program: To further support patients facing significant financial hardship, Mercy Dental Missions offers the Agape Grant Program. This initiative provides additional financial assistance, ensuring that even their reduced fees do not become a barrier to essential dental services for those experiencing abrupt or difficult situations. Mercy Dental Missions is deeply rooted in values such as integrity, respect, positivity, empathy, teamwork, service, humility, community engagement, partnership, and transparency. They emphasize that everyone is welcome to receive care, without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic status. The organization relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers, including dental professionals and general helpers, and actively seeks community support and partnerships to fulfill its mission of promoting oral health equity and transforming lives one smile at a time. They also offer student shadow/volunteer programs for those interested in gaining experience in a non-profit dental setting.

Very nice staff and less than half the cost of the other dental office in town.

I found the new office very clean and well organized and maintained…..the staff was pleasant, friendly and well versed in their profession. My only drawback was I was under the impression they accepted Medicaid, and confused when they didn’t as I found them while searching for Medicaid Dentists. But, a plus is their fees ARE affordable!

If I could give them 100 stars I would. Most of my life I have struggled to find a good dentist office. In the few moments of my life I have had dental insurance I tried to get help with my teeth from the dentists in the insurances network. They were either very lacking on compassion, wanting to do things to certain teeth I wasn't on board with or couldnt afford, or my insurance was pretty much completely used up on my first visit (which didn't even involve cleaning because I needed a more in depth deep cleaning). Those cleanings would have cost almost $2,000 which I did not have. After putting off my oral care even more I had a molar that had about 1/3 of it break and fall out. This was 4 years ago. Well about a month ago that tooth got really infected with a bad abcess that was below it.

That infection led to other infections that were surrounding that area. I was in more pain than I can explain, put on a couple rounds of antibiotics, and kept being told this was a dental problem and that I needed to see a dentist to remove the tooth in order to actually get these infections and pain under control. I feel like my Angel's led me to Mercy Dental and I'm so blessed they did. Everyone here is so kind, compassionate, and want to help you. I have severe dental anxiety and felt comfortable and cared from the moment I walked in to the moment i walked out the door. They were able to do the exam and extract the infected molar in an hour. There was absolutely zero pain during the procedure and I was kept very comfortable with laughing gas. I was originally terrified to be awake during the procedure but it was completely fine.

The cost was also beyond reasonable and once again I feel so blessed to have finally found affordable dental care. I can't wait to work with them starting in October so I can focus on getting back my oral health. Thank you so much to everyone at Mercy Dental! You really saved me. The world needs more people and places like this. It would be a much better place.

Not at all happy with our experience. Money is tight and we decided to give this a try for wisdom teeth that need to come out. We called and confirmed that they offered full sedation and was told they did. With PTSD, full sedation is a must. We drove over an hour and a half here for our initial consult.

We were told when we got there that they didn't have X-rays from our dentist. I wish they would have told us when we called to get those sent over so we could save some money. They said they called our dentist and they couldn't get through and immediately retook X-rays. The thing is I called in the office and immediately got through to them. It seems they barely even tried to contact our dentist to get X-rays.

Then! After they did X-rays, they said they did not in fact offer full sedation, leaving us with a bill for the unneeded X-rays AND THE 3 HOURS of travel and gas it took to get to the office. Like I said, money is tight and this office seems like they just took advantage of us. Just lies and money grubbing all around. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but things were wrong at every turn, making a bad situation even worse.
