Detailed Introduction

The MetroHealth Department of Dentistry is an integral part of The MetroHealth System, a renowned non-profit, public health care system in Cleveland, Ohio. Established in 1837 as City Hospital, MetroHealth has evolved into a comprehensive academic medical center affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The Department of Dentistry operates as a clinic within this larger system, distinguishing it from individual private practices. This structure allows for an integrated approach to patient care, where dental services can be seamlessly coordinated with other medical specialties. The department provides a broad spectrum of dental services for both adults and children, encompassing general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and specialized oral and maxillofacial surgery. Services include routine exams, teeth cleaning, x-rays, fluoride treatments, fillings (silver and tooth-colored), root canal treatments, simple and surgical extractions, veneers, crowns, fixed bridges, and implants. They also offer a variety of removable prostheses, such as flippers, partials, full dentures, and implant-supported dentures. A key aspect of MetroHealth's dental care is its specialized services for advanced dental diseases, including periodontal disease treatments and missing tooth replacement options. Furthermore, the department is equipped to handle dental emergencies, providing care for pain, infection, or swelling resulting from accidents. The oral and maxillofacial surgery team, comprised of board-certified or board-qualified surgeons with advanced training, performs procedures such as removal of impacted teeth, surgery for dental implants, orthognathic surgery, reconstruction surgery, repair of facial fractures, and treatment for TMJ disorders and sleep apnea. The department utilizes advanced diagnostic tools like cone beam CT for complex cases. As part of an academic medical center, MetroHealth Department of Dentistry is actively involved in training future dental professionals through its General Practice Residency (GPR) and Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) programs, accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). This commitment to education and research ensures that patients receive care based on the latest advancements in dental medicine. The clinic is dedicated to providing accessible care to all, regardless of identity, income, insurance status, or ability to pay, reflecting MetroHealth's broader mission as a safety-net hospital for Cuyahoga County.

If I can I would give them 0 stars. I got to my 4pm appointment on time, 10mins early. Waited 40mins to finally get called back. Now some of the ladies were great. The one that did my cleaning no.

She was nice in the beginning, but after telling them "no, I would like my cleaning now". Trying to get me to reschedule my appointment. My cleaning was horrible, I was in pain and my teeth feel terrible after. I don't know if she was rushing cause they closed at 5pm, but I wasn't the one late.
