My family and I used to like Midtown Dental Art. My husband started going there some years back. Originally, in addition to being friendly and personable, they took our insurance, provided fairly good care, and were always extremely responsive and responsible. There was always an estimated detailed invoice provided before any services, explaining the plan of care and cost covered by insurance and cost to the patient. Over the past couple of years, things changed.

I was told to do an involved and expensive procedure that I felt and was told by other dentists I certainly do not need. The cleanings were not as thorough. And finally, there were unexpected charges without estimated invoice for services provided beforehand, or any other warning. It turned out they stopped accepting our insurance without clearly informing us. I wish them well but at the end found this a disappointing experience

I’ve been going here for years, ever since Dr. Chen took over my old dentist’s practice. She and her whole staff are the absolute BEST. I don’t fear coming here but rather enjoy it. Thorough, gentle, and kind— she explains everything so you understand and always has time to answer questions.

So much more than a dentist, she is someone who I’ve come to know personally over the years and trust with my smile. I don’t live nearby either—I’m in Brooklyn—though she is close to my office. I’ve also sent many others here. If you need a great dentist who makes every aspect of it from appointments and procedures to handling insurance easy—go here!

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I don’t usually leave reviews, I’m more of a reader, but for this place I had to. In the past, I’ve struggled to find physicians who genuinely care about their patients. There have been times when I felt like nothing more than a name on a schedule, like my concerns didn’t matter. But that feeling completely vanished the moment I met Dr. Chen. I initially came in for some cavities, and Dr. Chen calmly reassured me they could be taken care of but that wasn’t my only concern. I also have a visible line down the middle of my front tooth, and for the longest time, it scared me.

I was terrified it might one day crack and change my smile forever. I’ll be honest: my self-esteem is deeply tied to my smile. It’s how I show I’m happy. When I laugh, I smile. When I run into an old friend, I smile. It’s part of how I connect with the world. So to live with the fear that it could disappear at any moment was exhausting. Dr. Chen not only told me everything would be okay, but also went a step further, she let me know that even if the worst happened, she could still help.

That kind of reassurance lifted the weight of the world off my shoulders. I used to feel anxious just eating, afraid the next bite might be the one that ruined everything. That might sound dramatic, but my smile looks just like the ones of people I love…some who are no longer here. Keeping it intact feels like holding onto a part of them. So for me, it means more than just how I look. Thank you, Dr. Chen, for taking me in as a patient and for being so incredibly patient with those you care for. I’m grateful every single day that I booked that appointment.
