Detailed Introduction

Midwest Dental - Minneapolis, located at 2010 27th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55406, is a well-established dental clinic providing comprehensive dental care to the local community. It is part of the broader Midwest Dental network, a prominent dental support organization (DSO) founded in 1968 by David Hehli, which was later acquired by Smile Brands in 2020. This affiliation allows Midwest Dental - Minneapolis to benefit from extensive administrative, operational, and clinical support, enabling their dental professionals to focus primarily on patient care. The clinic offers a wide array of dental services, catering to various oral health needs. These include preventative dentistry (such as teeth cleanings and regular check-ups), restorative dentistry (like fillings, crowns, bridges, dental implants, root canals, and tooth extractions), and cosmetic dentistry (including teeth whitening, clear aligners, dental veneers, and crowns). They also provide specialized services such as gum disease (periodontal) treatment, laser dentistry, and dentistry for seniors and children. Emergency dental services are available for urgent care needs. Midwest Dental - Minneapolis emphasizes a patient-centric approach, striving to provide high-quality, efficient, and affordable dental care. Their philosophy, often described as "Dental Care With Heart," highlights the importance of the patient-provider relationship, focusing on genuine care and understanding. They aim to create a comfortable and friendly environment, making dental visits a positive experience for all patients, including those who may have anxieties about dental procedures. The clinic accepts a variety of insurance plans, including Aetna (PPO), CarePoint Health Plans, Cigna (DPPO), Delta Dental (including MN Select and Singular plans), HealthPartners, Premier Dental Group, and UCCI (NFF). For patients without insurance, they offer an in-house dental discount plan called the "Essential Smile Plan," which provides discounts on exams, cleanings, X-rays, and other services. Additionally, they offer flexible financing options through CareCredit, making necessary dental work more accessible. Patient reviews often highlight the friendly and professional staff, the quality of care received, and the comfortable atmosphere of the clinic. The team, including dentists and support staff, is committed to educating patients about their dental needs and keeping abreast of the latest advances in dentistry.

GUARD YOUR MONEY---Their new payment policy of prepaying before getting an Explanation of Benefit (EOB) had me overpaying my May 16, 2024 claim by $214. 00 and June 8th, 2024 claim by $224. 00. It's been 5 months (yes, 5 months!) and I'm still waiting for my refunds for these two claims. The frustration and time spent is ridiculous. They did not keep their promises, did not process the claims timely and did not respond to emails. Refunds, typically take about two weeks. Luckily, Delta Dental just recently informed me, I would be able to file a grievance and Delta Dental would refund me the money and then Delta would collect the money from Midwest. I plan to pursue this grievance process to get my MONEY. My sister was told corporate was aware of this shameful billing practice. I plan on sending a copy of this Google Review to the CEO of Smile Brands (Parent company of Midwest) to see if they are really in agreement with this billing practice.

DO NOT (repeat: DO NOT) prepay until you get predetermination of benefits. This is excellent advise from Delta Dental to avoid this over-payment. PLEASE NOTE: This is NO reflection of the dental care I have received from my dentist, Dr. Zoha Khatoon, her dental assistant, Carol and the dental care my husband and twin sister have received from Dr. Stockton and dental assistant, Julie. I have dental anxiety (thank goodness for nitrous-oxide) and they have provided great dental care and made it comfortable going to the dentist, However, their billing practice needs to be looked at! Response to the owners remarks about contacting them at their website. I have been dealing directly with your team at that email address. In fact, I have easily sent over a dozen emails and called Delta Dental at least 6 times over the 5 months trying to get this resolved. I am done wasting my time dealing with the office directly and will get my refund through Delta Dental grievance process. I will NEVER pay up-front again. I finally had no other choice than to write this review and send it to the CEO.

December 26, 2024 This is unacceptable. I finally got notification (after waiting 7 months) that Delta Dental (in 30 days) would be refunding my over-payment from Midwest Dental for my May 16 and June 6th visits. What kind of business practice is this that I have to get a refund from the insurance company and not the Dental office. Midwest had me overpay the day of service on 2 visits and does NOT (repeat: does NOT) provide monthly statements. Do NOT expect any responses to any emails. My only communication was the EOB’s and with Delta Dental. I sent a letter to the Smile Brand CEO and just like the local Midwest office absolutely no response. Delta should be disciplining this office and sending out surveys to the customers at Midwest Dental to get their feedback on the billing process. DO NOT PAY UPFRONT!!

Wish I could give zero stars. My husband has been in a saga with them for years now. They put in a crown incorrectly, the dentist kept asking him how to put it in (how should he know??), then filing away and nervously giggling. It was not the right fit at all. Then when he called Dr. Stockton to tell him about it, Stockton assured him “it can take up to a year to feel right.

” Which is obviously bogus but my husband didn’t know what else to do and took him at his word. It never felt right and always caused problems. We switched dentists, and our new dentist told my husband that not only was it not put in right, it has now started to cause considerable decay as a result. We called and tried to sort this all out, and were repeatedly jerked around and lied to by Rue, the office manager. Every bit of this experience has been awful, and we’ve been ignored, lied to, and treated with extreme disrespect. Please stay away from this place!

I recently when in for new patient appt. I saw Dr. Khatoon and Carol. Both were very pleasant and professional. They explained to me what they were doing and check in often to make sure I was comfortable.

I mentioned that I had had sealants in the past and that my concern is that I would need new ones. They checked and confirmed I did, Before moving forward they check my insurance policy and explained what it would cover. I felt that was a great point of service. My only critique is that the office is a bit dated looking.
