I recently called Moore Dental Services after a filling fell out, as my regular dentist no longer accepts my insurance. Since my husband, who carries our children’s insurance, had already scheduled appointments at Moore Dental Services due to a similar insurance issue, I hoped to keep our family at the same provider and called to inquire about an appointment. Unfortunately, my experience with their front desk was extremely disappointing. The receptionist answered the phone abruptly with just “Moore Dental” in a harsh tone, making me feel as if my call was an inconvenience. When I began explaining my situation—mentioning that my husband and kids had already made new patient appointments—she interrupted me to ask, “What kind of insurance do you have?” After I provided my insurance details, she curtly responded, “We have our quota of patients from [insurance company]" and will not be accepting you as a new patient.

While I understand that practices have limitations on insurance providers, the interaction was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Their website prominently states “WE WELCOME NEW PATIENTS” at the top of the homepage, which is misleading if they are restricting patients based on insurance. I had no expectation of an immediate appointment; I simply wanted to schedule a visit to address my filling and arrange a cleaning for a later date. Because of this negative interaction, I have moved all our appointments to a different dental office that was not only able to fix my filling but also welcomed my husband and children with kindness and professionalism. If Moore Dental Services has staff members who struggle with customer service and phone etiquette, it may be beneficial for them to receive additional training or be placed in non-customer-facing roles.

First impressions matter, and based on this experience, I had serious concerns about how they would handle urgent dental needs for my children in the future. No patient should feel like they are a burden just by making a simple inquiry. Due to this interaction, Moore Dental Services has lost four potential long-term patients.
