Aspen Dental, a large network of dental clinics across the United States. Launched in 2020, Motto aims to provide an accessible, doctor-supervised alternative to traditional
braces and other direct-to-consumer aligner brands.
The treatment process with Motto Clear Aligners typically begins with an in-person consultation at an Aspen Dental office. During this visit, a thorough dental exam is conducted, including digital 3D scans of the teeth, X-rays, and photos, to create a precise model of the patient's current dental structure. A customized treatment plan is then developed by an Aspen Dental dentist, outlining the specific tooth movements, sequence, and estimated treatment time.
Motto Clear Aligners are crafted from transparent, medical-grade thermoplastic material, making them virtually invisible when worn. The aligners feature a unique three-layer design with dual-shell materials, which is engineered to provide both comfort and efficient tooth movement. This technology is reported to deliver less initial force at insertion and improved tooth movement compared to some other options, while also being highly resistant to staining and odors.
Patients receive a series of custom-made aligners, typically changing to a new set every one to two weeks, as prescribed by their dentist. For convenience, Motto offers virtual monitoring through the MottoMonitoring app, allowing patients to send photos of their progress from home and receive feedback from their care team, reducing the need for frequent in-office visits.
Motto Clear Aligners are designed to treat a range of mild to moderate orthodontic issues, including crowded teeth, spacing problems, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. The average treatment time can be as short as six months. A key aspect of Motto's offering is its "MottoAssured" program, which provides a satisfaction guarantee, including up to two bonus sets of aligners if the patient isn't completely satisfied with their results, provided they adhere to the treatment plan. The cost for most mild to moderate cases is around $2,999, which includes the aligners, office visits, and a custom retainer for post-treatment maintenance. Financing options and acceptance of most insurance, HSA, and FSA plans are also available.
