Detailed Introduction

Nevada Health Centers (NVHC) is a cornerstone of healthcare accessibility in Nevada, operating as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Established in 1977, it was among the first federally funded Community Health Centers authorized under the Public Health Service Act. NVHC's enduring mission is to provide access to quality healthcare services throughout Nevada, particularly focusing on underserved urban, rural, and frontier communities. Annually, Nevada Health Centers serves over 50,000 Nevadans, making it the largest provider of primary care for the uninsured, underinsured, and geographically isolated populations in the state. This commitment is underpinned by a philosophy that all individuals, regardless of their location or ability to pay, have the right to quality healthcare. To ensure affordability, NVHC offers a sliding fee scale based on federal poverty levels, accepting Medicaid, Medicare, Nevada Check Up, and most private insurances. NVHC operates a comprehensive network of health centers, including over 20 fixed locations, five mobile health programs (such as the Mammovan and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile for dental services), and seven Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) offices. These diverse access points enable them to reach populations that might otherwise lack healthcare options. In many rural and frontier areas, NVHC clinics are the sole accessible healthcare facilities for hundreds of miles. The range of services offered by Nevada Health Centers is extensive and patient-centered, aiming for holistic care. These services include: Family Medicine: Routine exams, screenings, well-child visits, immunizations, and management of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Dental Health: Comprehensive dental services, including preventive and restorative care, often provided through fixed clinics and mobile units like the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Behavioral Health: Mental health support and counseling, recognizing the importance of integrated care. Pediatrics: Dedicated care for children and adolescents. Reproductive Health Services: Including family planning and prenatal/newborn care. HIV Care and Prevention: Specialized services to address HIV. Mammography: Offered through both fixed sites and the statewide Mammovan program, providing crucial early detection services. Pharmacy Services: Many rural health centers have on-site dispensaries, addressing medication access issues in remote areas. Telehealth: Connecting patients to quality medical and behavioral healthcare remotely, enhancing accessibility, especially for those in isolated areas. Healthcare for the Homeless: Targeted services to address the unique health needs of this vulnerable population. Nevada Health Centers is recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This accreditation reflects their commitment to a team-based approach to care, emphasizing care coordination across multiple settings, evidence-based preventive and wellness care, and active patient participation in their health plans. They prioritize patient privacy, availability (with same-day and walk-in appointments often available), cultural sensitivity, and multilingual staff. Patients can also access their health information and communicate with providers through a secure online patient portal.

Update to my previous review for posterity. Orig review at bottom. CURRENTLY I could not reccomend this place. They have a new update that has removed all of their digital files allegedly, and are now asking patients to fill out a 10 page form every time they come in. Even though i had checked in online, confirmed my information online, they now no longer have it( they keep telling patients this change happened a month ago but i literally checked in online two days ago) . The manager was nothing but apologies and no fixes. Claimed that the front desk should have told me well before the appt time. Said they could have someone help me with the paper work, this was never offered by the front desk at any point, he looked very tired when i told him that. Giving a stressed out mom who is by herself a huge package of paper to fill out, while im holding a baby, then actually expecting it to be done in any compacity, when its already been done online is incredibly stupid at best. I wish I could use a kinder word, but one does not exsist. I also worry that this particular facility has prejudiced staff.

I was the only white person in there, everone was being given the same story, and by the time my already late appt was over the same people were still waiting because of this change that allegedly has everything on paper. My child was the only person seen. Even after they knew i would not be refilling the paper work out. They were refusing to see the non white patients. I'm not sure if that's actually the case but the optics were extremely upsetting to me and no one else was happy with this either. None of the staff like the change, but are still attempting to enforce it. If you dont have my childs information how can i trust that everything the dr told me today was true? Do they even have his records anymore? Who knows! They claim everything is on paper now, but the dr had a laptop in her arms, the nurse was putting notes in a computer, and the front desk people type away doing, whatever it is they do, while saying its all on paper now. Why is this clear mistake being pushed onto patients? Lastly they kept my license and child's ins. Card and I nearly left without it. Having to drag the baby baby in , they did not want to give me my ID or insurance until I finished the paperwork THAT IVE DONE ALREADY. The amount of stress the front desk staff gave me ended up with me losing my keys and having a panic attack.

It was incredibly embarrassing and all of this could have been avoided had this office simply taken responsibility for their error in losing patient information. This was a change for the worse and I do not feel comfortable or safe at this facility after todays appointment. My child will simply go somewhere that we can trust will care for him fully. ////////Took my baby here for his 6wk appt and so far all his follow ups. The front staff has been really nice, it's a small but quiet lobby. The Dr has been really great so far. Listens and is respectful to what I have to say and my baby really enjoys her too. I will continue to go here so long as my babies insurance covers it.

I would not recommend this place to anyone especially if you need any type of medicine. This place is terrible I've been in pain for a week now and never received my prescription I called Monday when I had the appointment because when I went to my pharmacy nothing had been sent due to an issue in the system by my dentist okay fine Tuesday called again it was never sent again called Wednesday left a voice mail nothing called Thursday someone said they couldn't find it in their systems again blaming the systems lady said they will call me back nothing. Called today Friday again they can't find it in their systems so they will call me back when they can, because again for the third time, the system never sent over the prescription, like really come on this place is literally a damn joke.

Seriously like what is this you can sure take my money right away but can't help me for a damn second. They don't care about their patients they only care about the money. I've been in pain and this is what my insurance accepts so trash.

Never again will I come here.

This place is absolutely horrible- my wife came in as a walk-in so they told her she would be waiting 2 hrs max. This 2 hrs turned into to 3 and 3 turn into 4 hrs! The all female staff in there keeps giving you false promises that someone will see you and it doesn’t happen.

Not the worst of it…. This this place is only for referrals not treatment!!! So we we waited 4 hours just to get a referral ! Do not go here- waste of time !

My Daughter is 15 months old, and had an appointment set up for her. She is very sick with the flu that’s going around. Come to the appointment to see if the doctor would prescribe me anything for her, especially ibuprofen for kids. Nothing prescribed at all. Did test positive for the influenza but not medicine. Had to go to sunrise hospital because she got worse. The hospital gave me more medicine than this clinic ever did.

Just horrible hospitality when it comes to children. Never coming to this place again. And the doctor has always been like this, never really wanting to prescribe any medications or do her job. Just wants to get paid for her visits. Please improve your STAFF AND PHYSICIANS and maybe there wouldn’t be so many bad reviews. Decided to take my daughter out of this clinic into a new pediatrician clinic for her. No more coming here that’s forsure!
