Excellent bedside man. Gentle, caring, funny. No reason to be “afraid of the dentist”.

I just moved back to Chicago after many years of living in Columbus, Ohio. Back there,my dentist was a corporation. . . a good dentist but, I felt like a was a little Toyota waiting for an oil change; a bevy of hygienists in every cubby. Finding a dentist in Chicago, a good one, is like trying to find Atlantis. .
. my husband went on a Google Search and made an appointment with Dr. Tahbaz. It took a couple of months to get in for a first visit but what I liked was that he did the cleaning and therefore seemed to understand my situation a little better than just the cursory once over. He was honest and didn't seem bent on just trying to get me to make astronomical changes to up the bill (probably because I am older and he sensibly thought better. . .
)This man seems to really like his job, he is thorough and not fake; he loves Old Towne and the feeling of the history of the area. He even tried to bring that into the lobby decor which he did himself. Even the 'goody bag' of floss and toothbrush was simple, no self promoting bag screaming out his name, just a simple zip lock bag. Angie, the receptionist is so courteous as well. I didn't feel like I was talking to an infomercial spokesperson.

A real dentist, that will spend the time with you to take care of your teeth. He doesn't rely on dental assistants to do the work for him. That's smart because with a low overhead, he is able to spend more time with the patient and provide quality care, no stress involved.

I needed a new dentist a couple years ago. Went to a new office close by. They had all the newest equipment and hi tech stuff. After an exam I was told I needed a ton of work and it would cost over $4000. Didn't go back there. I take excellent care of my teeth and knew that was a rip off. I got Sam Tahbaz name from a friend.
He was 180 degrees from the hi-tech office. Old school but professional, experienced, friendly, thorough, punctual and honest. He recommended I get a couple old silver fillings removed but that was it. I needed a new night guard and it cost HALF of the previous one and fits 10x better. I really really recommend him.
