Dr. J. Travis Thompson, DDS, is a distinguished Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon practicing at Oral Facial and Implant Specialists, located at 21660 W Field Pkwy #220, Deer Park, IL 60010. He has been dedicated to serving the Lake County area since 2006, focusing on patient-centric care and continuously incorporating the latest techniques and technologies in his practice. Dr. Thompson's educational background is extensive, beginning with a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University in 1993, followed by a B.S. in Dental Science and a D.D.S. from the University of Illinois in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He furthered his training with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency with the U.S. Army and completed a rigorous four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Fort Bliss, Texas, from 2000-2004, where he also served as Chief of Surgery for Head, Neck and Dental Trauma Research Detachment at Great Lakes Naval Station. He became a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2006 and was recertified in 2016. His clinical interests are particularly focused on maxillofacial pathology & trauma and the comprehensive management of complex medical patients. Dr. Thompson is proficient in a wide range of oral surgery procedures, including dental implants (including All-On-4® Dental Implants), wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting, alveoloplasty, extractions, and oral pathology diagnosis. He is also skilled in dental sedation, 3D imaging dental technology, exposure of impacted teeth, and frenectomy procedures. To ensure the highest level of patient safety and care, he has completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support courses, and the U.S. Army Combat Casualty Care course.
