my boyfriend had an appointment at 10am and we got there a little after 9:30. he was called back shortly after signing in but then was not checked on or seen by anyone after the initial check in. he was not seen again after 10:05 and we had waited for 50 minutes until he decided to just walk out instead of them wasting our time

I do not know how this office got so many 5 star reviews. I thought they’d be great for a second opinion, I’m only glad that I already got to see how great another orthodontic office was before going here and almost being locked in. The other orthodontist did x-rays, 3D mapping of the mouth, had the orthodontist present and very affable through the whole thing, and explained everything to us. They gave up a folder with all the information, the quote for braces, and told us to call back after we came to a decision. This office brought us in, the staff WAS friendly, and we saw the orthodontist for all of 2 minutes. She looked in my son’s mouth and ran her fingers over his teeth and said he needed braces but we’d need an X-ray to see if he needed just top or both. So okay, a bit quick but maybe she’s just that good. I expect we’ll get an X-ray to see since she said he needed one. Nope.

Next thing I know, I’m being brought into the financial office and being given two options—how much it’ll cost with just top braces and how much it’ll be with bottom braces too. And they say to let them know which option I want. I ask how am I supposed to choose when I don’t even know if he needs option two if the only way to know is if he needs the X-ray first. The financial lady doesn’t know. Seems rather stumped by this (does no one else ask this??!) So she gets the office manager. They tell me ONCE I agree to option one, THEN they’ll do the X-ray to find out if we need option two!!!! She says they’ll go ahead and do the X-ray as long as I’m agreeing to the $450 down payment I need to pay. I’m absolutely flabbergasted by this. I told her no. That my husband and I do not make multiple hundred dollar (let alone THOUSANDS) purchases without discussing it with each other first.

And how am I supposed to discuss this without knowing all the information first. It wasn’t a small price difference between the options, one was for $1500 and the other was for $3800! They did do the X-ray in the end without charging me first, but both my son and I left not feeling good about the consultation at all. If this is the business practices, to trap people into staying with them by making them agree and pay a down payment for one option and then tell them they need the other after, I don’t want anything to do with them. I’ll go back to the other orthodontist who was more upfront, friendly, and thorough. AND cheaper!! I don’t mind paying more for better quality care but I feel like I won’t get it there. Edit: I've increased to 2 stars because the office reached out to me in regards to my review and was open to feedback about my experience. The office manager apologized and said she in no way was trying to be condescending, so I removed that part from my review.

Very happy with Orthadontic Associates of Eldersburg. Overall appointments were a nice experience for my son, minimal wait time and quality care. The staff is always friendly and really put my son at ease. Lisa was particularly wonderful with a very sweet demeanor and very thorough in explaining things. Would highly recommend.
