I hate going to the dentist and have been so iffy on finding a place to go. Dr.Chen was fast and honest and direct. I’m definitely returning i was even able to enjoy some laughs with Amesha during X-rays. Thank you!

I never thought I would be writing a good review about a dentist. This place is amazing, the staff is very professional and friendly. Dr Chan is just AMAZING, you can trust that he‘ll do whatever it takes to make you feel better, plus he’s very friendly and approachable. Any problem I have had with teeth or billing is always resolved quickly and painlessly.

I would highly recommend using Overlake Dental, and I frequently recommend them to friends and family as well. I have had fillings, regular cleanings, some emergency work and even a fitted sports mouthguard.

I put off writing this for a long while in part bc I HATE leaving negative reviews and in part it felt like a fever dream or a cartoon scenario, not something an actual IRL dentist would act like. this is NOT a dentist to go to if you need any shred of a bedside manner or someone with sensitivity to your anxiety. I had to change dentists from my lifelong one who stopped taking my insurance. after months of stalling, I picked Dr Chen from his website and went in with a friend there for moral support for my severe dental/medical anxiety, which I was very up front about with Dr Chen. I was there to see about doing some damage control for my teeth grinding issue.

I had questions about how to go about getting a nightguard but he just told me it wasn't covered and went on a ramble roughly like: "yeah you really gotta stop grinding your teeth. it's generally caused by stress. once your jaw starts clicking it's too late, you've got TMJ and you're gonna be in so much pain that not even GOD can save you. " it was a lot longer than that and kept reiterating on how bad things would be if I didn't stop stressing out, talking over me while my friend and I both tried to tell him I knew all this and it was a major cause of the same stress that was perpetuating the problem. we kept trying to get a word in edgewise and eventually one of us got in a "that's enough" or something and he finally stopped going on and on with the scaremongering and scolding, but still didn't give me medical advice about what to actually do besides essentially just stop having an anxiety disorder.

the quote about "you're gonna be in so much pain god can't save you" is real, btw. literally have never heard a dental or medical professional say something like that to a patient before Dr Chen. I walked out grinding my teeth harder.
