Detailed Introduction

Pediatric Dentistry South is a well-established dental practice committed to providing specialized oral healthcare for children and adolescents. With conveniently located offices in Pittsburgh and McMurray, Pennsylvania, the practice serves a wide area, including surrounding communities like Mt. Lebanon, Moon Township, Robinson Township, Peters Township, and Upper St. Clair. The core mission of Pediatric Dentistry South is to promote lifelong oral health by focusing on preventive dentistry and early intervention. Their team of experienced pediatric dentists, including Dr. Courtney Uselton and associates, collectively boast over 60 years of combined experience in treating young patients. They are dedicated to creating a friendly, positive, and comfortable environment to help children feel at ease during their dental visits. Services offered by Pediatric Dentistry South are comprehensive and tailored to the unique needs of growing smiles. These include: Preventive Care: Emphasizing oral hygiene techniques, regular examinations, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants to prevent cavities and other dental problems. Restorative Treatments: Addressing existing dental issues with appropriate procedures. First Visits: Designed to be enjoyable and fun experiences, helping children develop a positive association with dental care from a young age. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first infant dental examination by 12 months of age. Sedation Options: Including general anesthesia at a surgery center, for children who may require it for complex procedures or to manage anxiety. Emergency Care: Providing assistance for dental emergencies. Pediatric Dentistry South is committed to educating both children and parents on the importance of proper dental routines and good oral habits. They utilize modern technology, such as digital X-rays, to ensure a detailed understanding of a child's oral structure and to formulate the most suitable treatment plans. The practice also offers various financial options and accepts many insurance plans to make dental care accessible. The practice strives to make every visit a positive one, recognizing that children may have fears or anxieties about new experiences. They explain procedures in terms children can understand and aim to build a direct and close rapport with their young patients. Parents are generally encouraged to remain in the reception room during treatment to allow the dental team to fully engage with the child, though accommodations can be made for very young patients. In essence, Pediatric Dentistry South is dedicated to nurturing healthy smiles from infancy through adolescence, aiming to instill good oral habits that will benefit children throughout their lives.

Dr. Uselton and the Dental Assistant, Stephanie, are literal godsends! My daughter (5) was terrified to get dental work (so much so, we considered sedation!) We opted to do the nitrous oxide and pray for the best. When I tell you SHE IS EXCITED for round 2 of dental work, I’m not kidding. . They made the time to connect with her and explain everything.

They had a developmentally appropriate explanation for everything and made her laugh and smile along the way. Somehow, she didn’t see one needle or speck of blood. She informed me they must not have drilled or given her a shot! I wish my review could flash golden glitter for these two gold star ladies. 💜💙 Thanks for making a difference!

We recently switched to this practice and are so glad we did! The receptionist and staff are so kind, caring, and welcoming! We have an autistic son that they go above and beyond for to make sure he’s comfortable and we appreciate it so much! I highly recommend this office!

The receptionist was BEYOND welcoming and friendly. My 2yo had her first dental exam done by their team and they were amazing with her! Showed her the tools before putting them in her mouth, sang the ABCs while they doing the cleaning to help keep her calm.

It was also my 7yo evaluation for extractions/caps the doc was very friendly and personable. She had no issue at all answering all questions I had in a friendly, polite manor and broke down the some things to a more understandable level for someone with no medical background/experience! I will definitely be taking my Children there again!

I will not be going back to this location and I do not recommend making an appointment here. I made my daughter’s first appointment here and when we showed up we were exactly 10 minutes late (I thought the appt was 9:30 but it was 9:15). So at 9:25 all the receptionist said was “she was due at 9:15” in a very rude way. I thought it was ridiculous considering patients must typically sit and wait for at least 10 minutes to walk in, and I was already there with two kids.

Not to mention it takes months to get an appt. You would think a pediatric dentist would be understanding and try to work to fit you in. But nope, rude and dismissive.
