Detailed Introduction

Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) is a well-established non-profit organization that has been providing healthcare to communities in Kitsap, Mason, and rural Pierce Counties in Western Washington since 1987. Originally founded as Kitsap Community Clinic, it became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 1993, allowing it to offer expanded services and care to underserved populations. PCHS operates numerous clinics, including the Bremerton Medical Clinic at 616 6th St, and is dedicated to offering a comprehensive range of health services. These include primary medical care, dental services, behavioral health counseling, substance use disorder treatment, and pharmacy services. They emphasize a patient-centered approach, providing care for individuals of all ages and health needs. A core principle of PCHS is accessibility and affordability. They provide services to all patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, accepting Washington Apple Health (Medicaid), Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Tricare, and various private insurances. For uninsured or under-insured patients, PCHS offers a sliding fee discount program based on household income and family size, and can assist with Washington Apple Health enrollment. They also offer payment plans. PCHS is recognized as an accredited Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), signifying their commitment to quality and integrated care. They strive to prevent chronic diseases and improve patients' overall quality of life, offering routine physicals, immunizations, family planning, cancer screenings, and minor surgeries. Their behavioral health services are integrated with primary care to provide holistic support for conditions like depression, anxiety, and trauma. Beyond direct medical care, PCHS is deeply involved in community service. They offer support services like health insurance navigators, Medicare SHIBA assistance, care coordinators to help patients access community resources, transportation assistance, and language interpretation services. They also partner with programs like Kid Vantage to provide essential goods for children experiencing hardship. Their Board of Directors is largely comprised of PCHS patients, reflecting their community-driven mission. They accept donations to help bridge the gap in funding and ensure services remain available to those in need.

Your burden off to each other doctor, then burden off by the specialist sent to , I believe treated as a number instead of human. This is how people die from neglect from doctors to patients. Honestly what can anyone like me do?

Not a single staff member here cares about their job, or their patients. I have had the WORST time getting medical records requests done. I’ve been doing this since 12/6/24! It is well over the 30 day requirement, but no one will take responsibility for it. They told me on 1/23/25 that they sent my request, but on 2/9/25 my prior doctors said they still have not received anything. They lie to their patients because they don’t want to do the bare minimum of their jobs, like sending a simple fax that takes under 30 seconds. Dr Jose Garcia was fully committed to misunderstanding my health history. He did not properly record anything, and forgot to put my heart medications on my chart, and fill them, despite the appointment being 75% about my heart surgery. This clinic is simply terrible. You will not receive proper health care. You will not get ahold of anyone. Your medications will be forgotten. Everything you say will go in one ear and out the other to your provider.

The front desk staff is disgustingly rude, and the clinic is dirty. I understand that this clinic services the homeless and low income populations, but we are people too. We deserve the most basic health care that this clinic simply refuses to give. If you don’t like servicing the low income community, if you don’t like being paid pennies on the dollar for your state subsidized patients, find another practice to work in. You don’t get to have a bias or opinion about the lives that your patients are living, to the point that you neglect their medical care, and prevent them from accessing necessary specialists and care. I have been BATTLING PCHS since December 6th of 2024. The second I can find a new PCP is the second I’m done with this mess of a clinic. I am disgusted by their practice, their behavior, and their woefully lacking in skill practitioners. If we can’t manage to properly record a verbal history, we need a new profession. If we can’t manage to send a simple fax, we need a new profession. I worked in medical, and I never let MRR or any important paperwork go like this. I have never disrespected the lives and health of my patients in such a way, nor have I ever been disrespected like this by a provider.

If you want a real doctor who will listen to you, and staff that actually does their jobs, this is NOT the place for you. Find a better provider. It’s not worth the frustration and the absolutely idiocy of this poor excuse of a clinic. This is the poorest example I have ever seen of “health care,” and I come from the hood. I’ve had awful providers and been to terrible clinics in the ghetto, but PCHS takes the flippin’ cake of awful people to work with. Editing to add that their medical records department called me today. Joann was a pleasure, and personally handled the issue. Their medical records department is attentive and polite. She understood my frustration, and handled it perfectly. 5 stars for Joann. The rest of my review stands as 1 star, and doesn’t change my perception of the clinic.

Low cost clinic that provides much needed care for people who are low income. Very professional and competent staff. Many locations in and around Kitsap county. After hours clinic available. They also provide dental services and all fees are based on a sliding scale.

Pharmacy available on site. They get funding from state and federal government as well from low co-pays for services provided. Doctors are well trained and pay attention to what you say without making you feel rushed counseling services are also available to those in need.
