Detailed Introduction

Pittsburgh Endodontics is a highly respected dental specialty practice located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, focusing exclusively on endodontic care. The practice has a rich history, originally established in 1978 as "Just Endodontics" by Dr. George Just and Dr. Richard Leffel. With over four decades of experience, it has built a strong reputation in the Pittsburgh area for providing expert endodontic treatments. The practice is conveniently situated in the Ivanhoe building in Monroeville, behind Lowe's and next to UPMC East hospital, offering ample free parking for patients. They operate Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with Saturday appointments available by request. Pittsburgh Endodontics specializes in a range of endodontic procedures, including: Root Canal Therapy: A common procedure to treat infected or damaged tooth pulp, aiming to save the natural tooth. Endodontic Surgery (Apicoectomy): This surgical procedure addresses issues that cannot be resolved through conventional root canal treatment, such as persistent infections or tiny fractures not visible on X-rays. It involves removing inflamed or infected tissue around the tooth's root and sealing the root end. Retreatment: Addressing previously treated root canals that have not healed properly or have become reinfected. The practice prides itself on utilizing advanced technology to ensure the highest standard of care. This includes the use of high magnification surgical microscopes for precision and CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) imaging for detailed diagnostics. The patient care philosophy at Pittsburgh Endodontics emphasizes treating patients like family. They are dedicated to creating a comfortable and reassuring environment, understanding that many patients may feel apprehensive about endodontic procedures. They prioritize patient education, providing thorough consultations that include diagnosis, explanation of treatment options, and insurance benefit information. The team strives for efficient care, often offering same-day emergency services and aiming to complete root canal treatments in a single visit when possible to minimize patient anxiety and inconvenience. They also provide routine follow-up care for up to six months post-treatment. The office strictly adheres to OSHA guidelines for sterilization and follows Universal Precautions to ensure patient safety. The team, including highly experienced doctors like Dr. Michael Korch and Dr. Michael Chaney (who has practiced alongside Dr. Just for many years), is known for its professional, kind, and calming approach, aiming to make every visit as comfortable and positive as possible.

Dr. Korch was very kind, gentle, and explained everything he did as he went along. Root canals can be scary when getting novacaine but he honestly made it feel like a mosquito, almost painless. The office and staff was also very nice and friendly too. I also loved the massage chair and radiation glasses. The massage chair helps take your mind off that noise.

If you're in need of a dentist or need a root canal, Dr. Korch is your guy! My left back molar caused me difficulty for months. I went to my dentist several times, the hospital, and an oral surgeon and no one could really find anything wrong with it. It was causing facial swelling and problems with my eye, and one day sharp, aching pain that lasted for a week. I thought I was going crazy because no one could find anything wrong. I was going to elect to have it pulled because I was in that much pain.

Then my dentist referred me to Dr. Korch and it was the best decision ever! He identified on my xray that my tooth was half way dead and the other root was dying. It was difficult to see on the xray, but he found it! Turned out, I had an abcesss and needed a root canal.

I've always had dental anxiety, so when my dentist referred me to an endodontist for a possible root canal, I was terrified. The receptionist I spoke to upon scheduling an appointment was friendly and informative. She walked me through what to expect both at my evaluation and financially - which was nice considering root canals are not cheap. Additionally, she scheduled me for a root canal just in case I needed one, since she knew there was a decent waiting period to get in.

I did end up needing a root canal and it was such a smooth procedure. The doctor walked me through what he was doing step by step. It was so quick and painless! Highly recommend this place if you do need a root canal - everyone was friendly and helpful!

I KNEW I needed a root canal and asked for an appointment without a referral. I just knew. The office made me an appointment proactively so the situation didn’t escalate. I was seen on time. Very clean office. Friendly staff. Great service.

The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was learning that you are billed up front based upon dental insurance estimates (I believe mine is off by roughly $90), and pay that estimate when you arrive. I looked into my insurance afterwards and questioned. The woman on the phone said if I ended up overpaying they will know soonish and they issue a refund check…she also said that this is pretty common practice in the dental world. Why wasn’t I told this up front? I would have appreciated the heads up. Or, take what my insurance says the coverage is, and bill me for the rest later if more is owed. Seems a little backwards to be honest.

Dr. Petraglia was incredible. She performed two root canals, and I experienced no discomfort at all. I was in and out of the office very quickly. The staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend this office for anyone needing dental work.
