Detailed Introduction

Precision Smiles, operating under names like "Precision Orthodontics and Kid’s Dentistry" in Pittsburgh, PA, is a dental brand dedicated to offering comprehensive orthodontic and pediatric dentistry services. Their core philosophy revolves around a "patient-first approach," aiming to provide high-quality, compassionate care that is accessible and affordable for families. Services Offered: Precision Smiles provides a wide array of dental services, catering to both children and adults. Their offerings typically include: Orthodontics: This is a cornerstone of their practice, encompassing traditional braces, clear aligners (such as Invisalign), and other orthodontic appliances to correct issues like crowding, uneven spacing, crooked teeth, and bite problems (e.g., overbites, underbites). They emphasize customized treatment plans to achieve optimal alignment and aesthetics. Pediatric Dentistry: While the specific details for the Pittsburgh location's pediatric services are not fully detailed in the provided snippets, the "Kid's Dentistry" in their name suggests a focus on dental care for children, which generally includes preventive care, routine check-ups, cleanings, and addressing common childhood dental issues. General Dentistry: While primarily focused on orthodontics and pediatric care, many Precision Smiles locations, or affiliated practices, also offer general dental services like routine exams, teeth cleanings, fillings, and preventive care. Emergency Dental Care: They offer emergency services for urgent dental needs, such as injuries or broken orthodontic appliances. Patient-Centered Approach and Values: Precision Smiles prioritizes the patient experience, aiming to create a comfortable and welcoming environment. Key aspects of their patient-centric approach include: Personalized Treatment Plans: Each patient receives a tailored treatment plan based on their specific dental needs and goals. Transparency and Communication: They are committed to open communication, explaining treatment options clearly and answering patient questions to ensure they understand their dental journey. Affordability and Accessibility: Recognizing that dental care can be a significant investment, Precision Smiles often offers various financing options, including in-house plans (like Smile Care, where applicable) and acceptance of most major insurance plans, to make treatment more accessible. Advanced Technology: The practice incorporates modern dental technology to ensure precise, efficient, and comfortable treatments. Geographic Presence and Structure: While the provided information specifically mentions a location in Pittsburgh, PA, other search results indicate that "Precision Orthodontics" or "Precision Smiles" may refer to a network of practices across different states, including Ohio and possibly other Eastern US locations. Excellent experience! Dr. Joseph explains everything in detail so you can easily understand. My daughter has seen several dentists recently and he was the most helpful by far.

His front desk staff are extremely kind and welcoming, which made my 5 year old feel very comfortable. She also got a goodie bag full of dental fun on the way out, which she was so excited about! She asked if he could be her regular dentist and she used to have dental anxiety. We are very pleased!

Had to go here to have my daughters crown fixed. Everyone was so kind and wonderful with her. They really made it a pleasant experience for her and she left smiling and happy. I would consider using them full time if they weren’t an hour away from my house, but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for any reason. They were terrific.

I have to say that precision, orthodontics and kids dentistry – Dr. Johnny Joseph is the best dentist that my kids have ever been to and they are nine years old. The experience starting with the receptionist, the nurse and the dentist are always so kind and welcoming and they always take such good care of my children. My son had to have extensive dental work done, and the whole time he was kept calm and told everything that was happening.

I will recommend to my whole entire family and all my friends that have children. Thank you so much for taking good care of us. We have found our dental home.

I need to update my review. First, the children's side closed down with no phone calls, etc. I'm being told that an email was sent, but I surely can't find it. So, I needed to find my children a new provider. This was (and still is) quite an upheaval. Now for the bigger issue. My husband has had considerable work done at Precision on Perry Hwy. We have incredibly good dental insurance (90%). Between what insurance has paid, and what we have paid out of pocket (thousands at a time), we are up to approx 20k paid to this doctor (my est is actually higher, but let's say 20k for good measure). Hubby has had crowns, implants, etc. He likes Dr. Modic (as do I). My issue is that their "policies and procedures" cross the line from policy to vultures. On my first real work done there, I was given a treatment plan that looked very different from my husband's. It had a small breakdown in the middle that I failed to understand.

I had a temp crown put on, and was told that I had to pay the 10% up front. Huh? No one said this when all the paperwork was signed. No, it was buried in the fine print that all payments are due immediately. Ok, fine. I didn't have my card on me (a new one was literally in the mail due to fraud). Rather than wait for my permanent crown to hit me for the $120 I owed (10%. the other 90%, or $1200, was paid by the insurance co), they called my husband at work 5 minutes after I left the office and demanded payment! He was busy and could not help them at the time. So, I went in today (I just got my card) and paid the bill. I expressed my thoughts after I asked her to review my husband's chart to see how much money we have paid this practice in 2 years. I understand the need for payment. I even understand getting it up front for the most part. I understand when I'm told that the payment is covering the cost of the crown to be made. They sound as if the $120 is paying for the crown. Apparently they are forgetting about the other 90% they get when the bill is given to my insurer! However, when you have a family that pays THIS much, you'd think that you'd be treated like more than just a blank check. Nope.

Doesn't matter. I now know that people don't matter in this practice. . its money, money, money. Sad, cause Dr. Modic is a likeable fellow, as are his assistants. Oh, and let me add that I have owned my practice in mental health since 2017. I've never called a regular, long term patient (or another family member who joined in my practice) over insignificant amount of money. I get paid from the insurance co, same as the doctor here. If someone needs to ride their copay for a few weeks, then fine. . I know my people and the ones who have been my "bread and butter" are recognized, and additional latitude given because that's just GOOD BUSINESS. I can be treated like a blank check anywhere. At least lie to me and make me feel like you care about more than just your payment!
