I'm posting this on behalf of my parents who had a horrible experience with this business. My wife had dental surgery - tooth extraction done by Dr Knight on 12/13/19. We are both retirees who are dependent on our monthly Social Security checks. My complaint was that they didn't act in good faith in dealing with us. While at the waiting area of the office, I was told by the front desk staff that she needs $1,046. 00 from me. I told her that it's quite a large amount for us so I went inside to have the procedure stopped only to be told that my wife was already "numbed. " Isn't it customary and a standard procedure for a clinic to ask the customer - especially a senior citizen - if she is amenable to the amount before numbing her? My wife was not given that option. So I was forced to use my high-interest credit card to make the payment. But that's not the end of the story. Aside from the full payment of over a thousand dollars I made, our insurance company - Humana Dental Plan - paid them over $300. 00 on 5/11/2020 which should have been sent to us. When my wife called them to send us that money, she was told to wait at least 2 weeks for a refund check. A month had passed and still no check. My wife called them today 6/12/2020 and a very rude staff member of this clinic didn't only give my wife a hard time, she hanged up on her.
We intend to pursue this matter through the Illinois Attorney General Office and report the business practice of this dental clinic to the Better Business Bureau for their unfair business practice. While the cost of $1,000 won't impoverish us , it's just the way this clinic conducted itself that riled me. How unprofessional could its front desk staff member be by saying in a loud voice - in the presence of other customers in the waiting area - "I need money from you. " She could just have called me and talked to me in a hushed tone at the counter. When I told her that the cost is too high and we'll just go to another clinic, I was told that my wife was already "numbed. " In order words, they didn't tell my wife of the cost and asked her if she's amenable. They didn't give my wife an option to either accept or refuse. They numbed her outright so we have no other choice but to go along. It is their Modus Operandi. A dental clinic like this one should not be in business. A rejoinder from friends: "That's true, Don. They take advantage of people and that receptionist needs training in customer service. How tactless! That cost is too high. Besides, they're supposed to send you the bill after your insurance paid so you don't have to overpay as in your case. You have strong case Don.
Also, report it to your insurance company so they they will take them out of your network. It happened to my brother-in-law. After his dentist did the extraction, he was offered a partial dentures which cost a lot. He declined their offer because he knew I had a friend who owns a dental lab and would only cost him 1/4 of what they want to charge him. Guess what? The dentist went ahead and billed the insurance company $1,500. And my brother-in-law only paid less than $400. to my friend for the same partials. Really, they scam people. " "Good for you, Don. Please file a report. Some of them even submit a bill to your insurance company even without your authorization for additional job like partial or full dentures. Some of them are crooks. " Don A

We changed insurance companies and this office came up. Needed a tooth pulled and set an appointment. Day of appointment rolled around and I went in early as asked to fill out paperwork. Had to take antibiotics an hour before due to a recent surgery. The staff then informed me that the appointment I’d waited weeks to have was just an “estimate “ appointment. They also waited till the day of to ask for a referral from my old dentist, tough to do on a Saturday.
The staff is so unprofessional. They wanted all of my insurance information, which I supplied a week prior but never asked for the referral till the day of service. Don’t go here. Use a professional office with a properly trained staff. Heck, they don’t even have fish in their fish tank! We were hoping for a friendly, experienced staff and a pleasant dentist and they have neither.

No stars. Read the other Reviews. We experienced same. Have in-network dental insurance yet office claimed to "need to do some extra cleaning not covered by insurance and asked for payment". We were prepared. Had insurance on the phone, asked for procedure code and verified "extra" cleaning was a covered benefit. When office informed, they asked, "what is the big deal? It only $35".
Office staff was rude, uniformed, and looking to commit insurance fraud. Cleaning was rough. When asked about the X-rays findings, the dentist said we could ask our orthodontist (braces off for over 8 months), for their most recent copy - they would have a better X-ray and know better? Called twice for X-ray follow-up. No one will call us back. STAY AWAY.

My dentist is in Naperbrook Dentistry in Naperville and my husband and I, both seniors on Medicare, have dental insurance with Humana. We are absolutely satisfied with our dentist, but not with its billing agency, Procare Dental Group, which is responsible for all the billing. When I visited my dentist in September 2023, the receptionist told me that my insurance was not billed for my June 2023 dental care, but she was going to forward it again to the responsible person for billing.
Although I paid the uncovered portion of my bill after each visit, in January 2024, I received a combined bill for me and my husband with hefty balance going back to year 2022. When I called the number on the bill to speak to the billing supervisor, she asked me to speak to the staff at Naperbrook dental office who in fact were not responsible for the billing. Therefore, this issue remains unresolved.
So my only solution now is to find another dentist with a professional and responsible billing system for my future dental services.
