Hey I have to speak #realtalk to all the Dentophobics like me (or formerly like me) out there. I was downright terrified of dentists, and when my tooth filling (from a cavity I had as a child) cracked and a piece of my tooth broke off, I put off getting it taken care of for about 2 years, making excuse after excuse. Well, about a month ago, another piece broke off, causing the rot underneath to be exposed, and I was HORRIFIED. In fact, my horror at seeing what was happening to the tooth was so great, it overruled my dentophobia, and I decided to do an internet search to find the best, most professional looking practice I could find in my area, and bite the bullet and get it done. I found Progressive Dental in Novi, and they heard how urgent my situation was and squeezed me right in. I knew the work I needed done would be pretty extensive, so I was so nervous the day I went in, I was tripping all over myself, dropping things, spilling things. . . I was a HOT MESS. But my doctor (Dr. Rivamonte) and dental assistant (Vicki) and the whole staff (reception and everybody) seemed to sense my distress, and immediately began to put me at ease.

The environment there was so professional- and at the same time- so laid-back and reassuring, within minutes I was already feeling right at home. I use humor as a coping mechanism, and they seemed to pick right up on that and knew just how to respond and interact in a really personable way that was appropriate and just what was needed. They explained that they thought they could save the tooth (with a crown) but that it would require a root canal, and told me all my options, possible outcomes, and what to expect. Normally, I would have asked for some kind of nitrous-oxide or twilight drugs for such a procedure, but I felt so confident in their abilities and at ease in this environment that I didn't even need that! After the local anaesthetic, I could hardly feel a thing. So I leaned back, flipped on the tv, did some channel surfing. . . and the rest is history! My crown is beautiful! It feels just like my original tooth to me. I can chew on both sides of my mouth again, and feel like a new me! If you are scared like I was. . .

don't be. Make that call. Get yourself over there. There is nothing to be afraid of. It felt- to me- like a day at the salon. I told Dr. Rivamonte, I've had hair stylists who beat me up more than that. Hahahahaaa! Just do it, and concentrate on how great you will feel when it's all done.

Dentist, Dr. Salah and Barry, a dental Hygienist has been my dental experts for nearly 3 decades, including through COVID-19. This is a very professional office. With them I know I'm in good hands. I require pre-medication and have sensitive teeth and they ensure I have taken my pre-med before each exam.

They are thorough and don't prescribe unnecessary treatments. And they are sensitive in letting you know the approximate cost of any dental work you many need. I would highly recommend them to you.
