Detailed Introduction

Raamya Dentistry is a dedicated dental clinic located at #201, 2000 Credit Valley Rd, Mississauga, ON L5M 4N4, Canada. The clinic specializes in treating a specific set of complex oral health conditions, including Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction, various forms of orofacial pain, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea. This specialization sets them apart, as only a limited number of dental professionals in Canada focus on these areas. The clinic is led by Dr. Ashokbabu Raamya, a highly qualified dentist with extensive experience and specialized training. Dr. Raamya graduated from Ragas Dental College and Hospital in Chennai, India, in 1994 and completed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada program in 2002. After over 15 years as a general dentist in Ontario, he pursued a two-year post-graduate residency program in TMD/Orofacial Pain at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, New York. His commitment to ongoing education is evident through his publications and his interest in educating other dental professionals on TMD and orofacial pain. Beyond his core specialties, Dr. Raamya also has an interest in Invisalign treatments and dental implants. Raamya Dentistry emphasizes a patient-centered approach, aiming to make patients comfortable by thoroughly explaining procedures and involving them in their treatment plans. They welcome new patients, with no referral necessary, though they are well-equipped to handle referrals from other healthcare providers. The clinic is equipped to perform thorough initial examinations and consultations, with a focus on investigative diagnostics to accurately identify conditions. Financial arrangements are discussed during the initial consultation, and the clinic accepts various payment methods, including debit, Visa, and MasterCard. Services offered include diagnostic evaluations, treatment for TMJ pain (including clicking, locking jaw, limited mouth opening), management of changes in bite/occlusion, and treatment for sleep apnea and snoring. They also address related symptoms such as headaches, migraines, dizziness, ear pain, ringing or stuffiness, and facial or undiagnosed teeth pain, as well as neck or shoulder pain/stiffness that may be linked to oral health issues. The clinic provides options such as stabilization/occlusal splints (bite guards) for TMJ disorders and devices for sleep apnea. Patient reviews frequently highlight the friendly and professional staff, the painless procedures, and the clear communication regarding treatment plans and payment options. Patients appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and the detailed explanations provided. The clinic is committed to providing compassionate care and helping patients achieve optimal oral health and comfort.

I first saw Dr. Raamya in November of last year after desperately searching for a doctor who might be able to provide me with some relief from the unbearable headaches and jaw pain that had me off work for the last 4 months. Prior to seeing Dr. Raamya I had seen several other specialists and tried every treatment I was aware of. Botox, physio, chiropractor, muscle relaxers, nerve medication, etc. And while these helped, they where expensive and only provided temporary relief.

Though his office was an hour away from me I was desperate, so figured It was worth a try. From my first visit he was very sympathetic, took the time to listen to my history, addressed all my concerns and I felt like he was the first doctor who really understood my pain and what I was going through. After providing me with a treatment plan, I was unsure of if I really wanted to spend more money. However seeing as the cost was much less expensive then prior treatments I decided it was worth a try. After one month of following his treatment plan and wearing a custom fitted mouth guard 24/7 I started seeing a noticeable difference in my pain levels and headaches. I continued with follow up visits to have my guard adjusted and address any concerns.

Now, almost 6 months later, my pain has been reduced drastically, daily headaches are minimal and I am back to my regular day to day activities. Had I not found Dr. Raamya I am really scared to think where I would be right now. For any one that is experiencing headaches, jaw pain, or any dental issues, I highly recommend his practice.

Dr. Raamya and his staff treated me with kindness and understanding from our first meeting. I was referred by my dentist after experiencing ear pain and severe headaches for 6 months. My ears, nose and throat specialist could not diagnose the cause of my pain. Dr.

Raamya listened to my concerns, asked many in depth medical/life style questions and recommended a plan to treat my pain and discomfort. My treatment plan was truly a partnership - Dr Raamya provided the expertise and I followed his specialized plan. I am now almost pain free! By continuing to follow my treatment plan I am sure I will pain free soon. Thank you Dr Raamya!

Both Dr. Raamya and his Assistant are extremely friendly, polite, and warm hearted. I was in distress when I saw Dr. Raamya as my previous Dentist did not give me the proper care in regards to my TMJ.

Dr. Raamya fitted me with the proper mouth guard that I needed, my jaws feel much better, and I can see the 'light at the end of the tunnel. ' Honestly I never knew that there were Dental Specialists for TMJ! Dr. Raamya is a Life Saviour!

The office receptionist & the physician are unprofessional & completely lack the skillset required to work with patients. I completed a 9-paged form prior to my appointment & there were certain sections that were not fillable. When I arrived, the receptionist already seemed irritated that she had to help me & she asked me to sign some papers on the computer. She quickly moved the cursor to the signature areas & I indicated that I would like to look over what I was signing. She seemed annoyed & said they were just the same forms that they had sent over to me my email. As I read the documents, she let out a big sigh as she waited for my finish reading & sign the documents. She was also very rude asking me to "sit properly" in the chair. When the doctor arrived, he did not greet me - he immediately started asking me some of the same questions from the 9-pages I had spent almost 45 minutes completing prior to my appointment.

I did state that I had answered these questions on the forms - he seemed angry/annoyed that I had even asked about this. He stated that although they were the same questions, he likes to ask them as the patient isn't always paying attention when filling out the forms, or they don't answer a question correctly? I felt he could have explained this at the beginning - I spent almost an hour completing the forms (the receptionist communicated multiple times that these had to be done before my appointment), I also took a day off work to go to the appointment - I felt my time was not valuable to them! I had communicated to the doctor & on the forms that my pain was severe & on a scale of 1-10, I would say it was high. As he completed the oral exam, he poked around my mouth & jaw asking if certain areas hurt. I had also stated that my pain would come & go, although it had become much worse & consistent in the last 7 months. As he poked me & checked for pain, I said I wasn't feeling anything. He replied in an aggressive tone, "You said your pain was at 8 or 9. WHERE IS YOUR PAIN NOW?" He also became very frustrated when he asked me to not to "put my jaw back?" & I was not doing it correctly. He asked me to do this several times - I felt as the Physician, if the patient is unable to do what you are asking, perhaps you should try & communicate it differently? He also spoke to me like a child when asking me about my night guard & was very negative around my wanting to get braces.

He stated that the braces (yes & no?) would not help my TMJ/jaw pain & he was just giving me a "heads up. " I will not be returning to this doctor or office & I def. do not recommend them. I tried to share feedback with the physician & he was very dismissive & unwilling to hear my concerns. It is unacceptable that they treat people this way & they seem miserable in their roles! They also charged me almost $300 with no real solutions for my pain or concerns.
