Detailed Introduction
The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is a prominent healthcare organization deeply rooted in the Rockbridge County, Virginia community. Established in 1992 as the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic, it evolved into the Rockbridge Area Health Center in 2013, expanding its mission and services. RAHC operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), signifying its commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to all, including the uninsured, underinsured, and those with Medicaid and Medicare.
RAHC offers a wide range of integrated healthcare services, including primary medical care for all ages (from newborns to adults), comprehensive dental services, and behavioral health counseling. Their services encompass routine physicals, sick visits, immunizations, women's health, family planning, prenatal and postpartum care, and nutritional services. They are also equipped to manage chronic diseases and provide referrals to specialists and for imaging.
A key aspect of RAHC's approach is its dedication to addressing the "Social Determinants of Health" (SDOH), recognizing that a person's environment significantly influences their well-being. This holistic view of wellness is integrated into their mission to provide comprehensive access to care across the community. They offer financial assistance programs, such as an income-based sliding fee discount, to ensure affordability for all patients.
RAHC operates multiple locations, including their main facility at 25 Northridge Lane in Lexington, as well as offices in Buena Vista and at Kendal at Lexington. They are also innovating with mobile medical and dental units to reach underserved areas and overcome transportation barriers. The center has consistently received recognition for its clinical outcomes, ranking among the top health centers supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Dr. Hamzeh Al Qublan, DDS, is one of the dental providers at Rockbridge Area Health Center. He joined RAHC in the summer of 2018, bringing a background in biology and biomedical sciences from Virginia Tech, and a Doctorate of Dental Science from the University of Maryland. His experience includes providing dental care to underserved communities in Maryland and Virginia, aligning with RAHC's mission.
