Do everything you can to take your children elsewhere. At some point, they may tell you your child has a mouthful of cavities that require aggressive dental surgery. They won't actually show you or discuss their x-rays though after you request seeing them multiple times, and they also won't discuss the procedures they recommend. However, they'll insist on scheduling surgery ASAP, and they'll tell you it'll cost about $1000 out of pocket which your insurance won't cover. We didn't feel comfortable subjecting our son to surgery with absolutely no information about what would be done.

I wanted to know exactly how many cavities he supposedly had, where they were located and how they would be treated. As a result, we opted to get a second opinion elsewhere, and we're so glad we did. Not only was a less invasive treatment plan suggested and put into place after new x-rays were taken, but everything was clearly discussed with no questions asked. Nearly a week later, Dr. Rosen's office has yet to provide our children's new pediatric dentist with copies of our son's previous x-rays.

It's illegal to withhold x-rays from a patient. This practice is unethical, does not care about or acknowledge the concerns of parents and just wants to make a quick buck off unsuspecting families.

After a change in insurance I had to find my kids a new dentist. The doctor we saw was friendly. He took x rays and told me my 5 year old daughter needed 8 molars capped. He never actually even showed me the x rays. I didn’t think to ask at the time because my daughter was in a rush to leave. Capping 8 molars when she had zero problems at her last cleaning at her previous dentist didn’t sit right with me so I wanted a second opinion. I asked them to send the x rays to my previous dentist who offered to take a look for me at no charge.

The x rays were sent but my previous dentist said they were too dark to make an accurate assessment. I asked them to send the x rays again and they did. They were still too dark. I asked them how else we could get legible copies of the x rays and was told the doctor would be in touch. He never called. I made an appointment at another dentist 40 minutes away. His assessment was my daughter had one cavity that could be filled.

That’s it. No sedation. No 8 caps. One cavity. Perhaps these folks just have a more aggressive approach. But if you’d rather be more conservative with your treatment you probably want to go elsewhere.
