The clinic is led by Dr. Mark Nelson, a distinguished orthodontist with extensive experience, particularly in clear aligner therapy. Dr. Nelson has been recognized as a Top 1% Invisalign Provider worldwide, indicating his exceptional expertise in this advanced treatment. He has treated over 15,000 patients with either Invisalign or braces, making him one of the most experienced practitioners in the field. Sammamish Orthodontics prides itself on providing "hyper-convenient treatment" tailored to fit into patients' busy lifestyles. They offer a comprehensive range of orthodontic services for both children and adults, including traditional metal braces, clear (ceramic) braces, and a strong emphasis on Invisalign clear aligners. Their commitment to technology is evident through the use of the iTero digital scanner for accurate impressions, eliminating the need for traditional gooey molds. This technology also allows for faster treatment, fewer office visits, and a more comfortable experience. They also offer PROPEL Orthodontics for accelerated treatment. The clinic's approach is patient-centric, with a focus on educating individuals about their options and empowering them to choose the best treatment path. They offer complimentary consultations where patients can discuss their needs, receive a comprehensive exam including digital scans and low-radiation panoramic x-rays, and understand the cost and duration of their treatment plan. Patients consistently praise the clinic for its professional and friendly staff, comfortable environment, and excellent results. Dr. Nelson's personal background, being the son of an orthodontist and having worked in the field for years, further underscores his dedication and passion for creating beautiful, healthy smiles. Beyond clinical excellence, Dr. Nelson is actively involved in the Sammamish community and supports various charitable causes.

We've had a wonderful experience at this clinic! The staff is friendly and professional and my daughter looks forward to her visits. We were thrilled with the results after she wore braces and a face mask—everything turned out beautifully. They truly did a fantastic job! Highly recommend this place.

Amazing experience all around! Everyone here has been great, but I had such a great experience with Kare at my last appointment, and that made me want to hype this place up. She made me so comfortable with the way she tells me everything she’s going to do before she does it.

I’m not done with my process yet, but would wholeheartedly recommend this place just for the kindness of their team—everyone from the front desk to the patient area—and amazing bedside manner of their team.

I struggled to write this review because Sammamish Orthodontics is part of our community, and the staff has always been kind. However, my son’s experience has been so troubling that I feel it’s important to share. My son, now 19, underwent Invisalign treatment during COVID, which included the use of rubber bands for jaw alignment. Over the course of his treatment, he repeatedly told the doctor—both on his own and once with me present—that he thought rubber bands had become embedded in his gums. Each time, his concerns were dismissed with the assurance that it wasn’t possible. After his treatment ended, one of his canine teeth looked infected, and what appeared to be a rubber band was visible beneath the gum. We returned to the orthodontist, who again dismissed it as a simple infection. We had to push for a referral to a specialist.

The endodontist we were referred to discovered that not one but two rubber bands had become embedded in the gums of that tooth, causing the root to deteriorate so severely that the tooth couldn’t be saved. He referred us to an excellent periodontist, who performed an extraction, a bone graft, and a gum graft. These procedures were both painful and traumatic for my son, and he has spent nearly a year with a gap in the front of his smile while waiting for his permanent crown to be placed. During the course of treatment for the first tooth, the periodontist noticed an issue with the gum around my son’s other canine tooth. After further evaluation, she discovered an additional rubber band embedded in the gum of that tooth as well. Thankfully, this tooth was saved, but not without another surgery and an additional gum graft. The cost for all of this—including the extraction, the bone and gum grafts, the subsequent procedures for the second tooth, follow-up care, and the new crown—has totaled $10,000 out of pocket, even with excellent insurance. Beyond the financial burden, my son has endured immense physical and emotional pain.

This entire ordeal could have been avoided if the orthodontist had taken my son’s concerns seriously. Instead, his repeated attempts to advocate for himself were dismissed, and the result has been a year of pain, trauma, and costly dental procedures. What’s been most disheartening is the orthodontist’s lack of accountability. Even after specialists confirmed what had happened, there was no acknowledgment, apology, or concern from the office. While I take no pleasure in writing this, I feel it’s important to share. Patients deserve to be heard, and what happened to my son was entirely preventable. I hope this serves as a reminder to always advocate for yourself or your loved ones if something doesn’t feel right.
