Detailed Introduction

Schwab Orthodontics is a well-established orthodontic practice serving several communities in Wisconsin, including Beaver Dam, Hales Corners, and Wauwatosa. The practice is led by Dr. Alex Schwab, DDS, MS, who is a highly educated and experienced orthodontist committed to providing exceptional care. Dr. Schwab is a native of Beaver Dam and received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and his dental degree from Marquette University. He further specialized in orthodontics, earning his Master's degree and Specialty Certificate from Marquette as well. He is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, ensuring he stays current with the latest advancements in the field. Schwab Orthodontics offers a wide range of orthodontic treatments for patients of all ages, from children to adults. Their services include traditional metal braces and more discreet options like clear aligners (Invisalign). The clinic emphasizes utilizing state-of-the-art technology to enhance patient experience and treatment outcomes. This includes the iTero® Digital Impression System, which eliminates the need for traditional, uncomfortable putty impressions by creating precise 3D digital images of teeth and bites. This technology aids in developing personalized treatment plans, visualizing outcomes, and fabricating custom appliances like Invisalign aligners and bracket trays. They also use digital X-rays for diagnostic purposes, minimizing radiation exposure while providing essential information about oral health. The philosophy at Schwab Orthodontics revolves around tailoring treatment plans to meet the unique needs and desires of each individual patient. They strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment, offering complimentary consultations to discuss treatment options. Their patient-focused approach aims not only to achieve aesthetically pleasing smiles but also to improve overall oral health and function. They also offer flexible payment plans and work with insurance companies to help patients maximize their benefits.

I was really torn on weather or not to give 1 or two stars. I decided on two stars but we will see how things continue. I really thought things would be much different than how they have actually turned out since choosing to come to Schwab orthodontics. Our general dentist referred us out to have braces done. They asked if we wanted Beaver Dam or Fond Du Lac. I decided to go with Beaver Dam since it was a little closer, so they sent us to Schwab. Upon arrival I noticed it seemed "fancy" as far decor but I was a little thrown off by where the work actually gets done as there are no walls, you are just crammed in one area, next to other people getting work done. Having a medical background that kind of made me cringe thinking about the random fluids flying around and lack of privacy. I decided to hear them out since the first impression of them was pretty kind. Our child had X-rays done, we met with the dentist (Dr. Schwab) - who was super nice, he showed us the x-rays and told us it would only take about 2 years of braces and our child would have straight teeth! That sounded AMAZING considering when I had braces as a kid I had them for like 5-6 years, so I definitely know the in's & out's, rights & wrongs of braces care. But after we signed the contract with them is when things quickly went downhill. I was a little thrown off when they would take my child in the back to do work and tell me to stay in the waiting area. I didn't like that. Just about every time my child went back with one of the girls, they were either rough or both rough and rude with them.

My childs teeth are a bit sensitive so a couple times when the tools were slammed against certain areas or the air from the tool hit a certain area, my child would tell them that area was a bit painful and in response the hygienist would make remarks like"oh that doesn't hurt" or "you're fine" and things like that. Now my child is already over 1 year (almost 1. 5) into braces and we have only been in to have work done, less than a handful of times. And so far EVERY time we have left, something has broken off shortly after we left. I always call right away and first we get accused of eating hard things ( apparently soup, soft simple sandwiches and similar items are just too "hard"). Or one lady tried to blame our child by saying "well the child was probably keeping their tooth wet when we are putting the brackets on". . . Where does that make sense? It's the person putting on the brackets job to dry and set the tooth, not our child. They are never able to get us in. We have been waiting some months to get in to get things fixed once again that broke off. And it seems to be the same area over and over. And what's frustrating is that I know of other people who go to Schwabs who can get in right away and then some others that aren't very happy with them either. So they must pick and choose who they really want to help. They sure will hound you for a payment but they can't seem to ever get you in.

I was asked to be put on a call list and never even got a call back but again know of people who could easily call in to make a quick appointment dealing with the same thing. We were told that quote "only Dr. Schwab can put a bracket back on and he is only available like 2 days a week". . . I find that strange and hard to believe when they have other hygienist working on things like that. As of right now we are quite unhappy with how things have been going. Whenever I had issues with braces, the dentist was always able to get me in to get it fixed, especially when things like this only take a couple minutes at most to do. Apparently times have changed or we just chose the wrong place to go. My husband and I are going to be VERY upset if they now try to rush to remove our child's braces to make that 2 year mark and then our child's teeth shift right away or if they try and charge us more money for taking longer then 2 years because things kept breaking and they took forever getting us in. I guess we will see. . . .

I had an amazing experience at Schwab Ortho! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, professional, and made me feel completely at ease. Dr. Schwab is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain every step of the process. The office is clean, modern, and runs right on schedule. I’m so happy with my results and would highly recommend them to anyone!
