Dr. Healey and his staff are incredible. Three words describe their office: care, concern, and effective. As a patient, attending a dentist is not my fav; however, when I need to go, it is not with fear or trepidation. Dr.

Healey is very good at his job; not too busy to notice you or take a moment to listen. His skills as a dentist are excellent, including special care when giving shots, etc. The price is very reasonable compared to any other dentist in the area that we have visited.

We deeply regret going to Dr. Scott M. Healey, DMD at Gental Family Dentistry & Orthodontics. Based on all the positive reviews, we decided to take our oldest daughter to get her braces here. She is the first person in our family to get braces, and not knowing exactly what to expect, I read hundreds of reviews from dozens of providers. Dr. Healey's reviews seemed the best. After confirming with our insurance that the procedure would be covered by an in-network provider, and confirming with Dr. Healey's office that they accepted our insurance, we decided this was the place. This is a decision we deeply regret. I hope others considering treatment from Dr. Scott M. Healey find this honest review and reconsider seeking treatment here. Unfortunately, I was misled by the reviews, which I suspect may be from family members or friends leaving deceptively positive feedback. Here are the actual facts and our experiences, which you should consider if you are thinking about getting treatment here: Deceptive Billing Practices: Despite confirming multiple times that our insurance would cover the treatment, Dr. Healey's office failed to submit a pre-authorization for the braces before starting treatment.

This and other bad billing practices forced us to pay out of pocket for what should have been covered. This led to unexpected and an unnecessary financial strain as well as ongoing issues with insurance claims his billing staff refused to help sort out. Unexperanced Staff: The practice relies heavily on the cost savings from training student assistants who rotate every six months. This lack of continuity and experience significantly impacted the quality of care my daughter received. Outdated Equipment and Limited Options: The equipment used is very dated, and the options offered were extremely limited. This did not align with what we were led to believe from the initial consultations. Conflicting Medical Opinions: Dr. Healey's treatment recommendations often conflicted with industry best practices. When questioned, he failed to provide clear, evidence-based explanations. For example, he claimed and billed my minor daughter as an adult because all of her adult teeth had erupted. This led to the insurance claim being denied, as our insurance defines "adult" and "adolescent" based on legal age, not biological age. Despite my daughter being only 13 at the time, his office refused to make any corrections. Unsanitary Environment: The clinic's hygiene standards were below acceptable levels, raising concerns about cleanliness and infection control. Poor Craftsmanship: The work done on my daughter's braces was subpar, resulting in a posterior open bite. When this issue was brought up, Dr. Healey blamed us for not opting for an additional $300 procedure to widen certain teeth, a necessity he failed to mention initially.

Office Conditions: The office itself is outdated and poorly maintained. The ceiling has old, bumpy, sparkly tiles that look like asbestos. There are 3-4 doorless exam partitions right next to the reception desk, all open and lacking privacy. The only door visible, other than the front door, leads to Dr. Healey's windowless office. The back wall shared by all exam partitions has a single monolithic poster that looks as dated as the rest of the building. The entire floor is covered in high-wear carpet reminiscent of my elementary school from 25-30 years ago. Each exam area is equipped with an unusable tube TV and VHS player hanging from the ceiling, and the exam chairs have cracking pleather with pressed particle board guards that show signs of peeling from old age. You won't find any x-ray machines or modern scanning equipment here. When imaging is required, you have to go to a different, unaffiliated modern dental office up the street, who will bill separately for the scans. Then, you have to bring those scans back to Dr. Healey for continued treatment. I strongly advise others to consider alternative providers for their orthodontic or dental needs.

I've been going to Scott Healey my entire life, over 30 years now. He's an excellent Dentist and Orthodontist. I've had my bi-annual cleanings, braces, wisdom teeth removed, some cavities done, and even a crown. He's also done all my daughters cleanings, cavities, and braces as well.

She just got her braces off last year and her teeth look amazing! Dr. Healey is fairly priced, very friendly and gentle, and does amazing work. Highly recommended.

Dr. Scott Healey does a Fantastic job!! He is my orthodontist, I had braces for 2 years and my teeth look beautiful 😍 I'm so satisfied with his work. He's great with kids and loves his job. Recently my retainer broke and they had it fixed so fast!! They Always do there very Best!!
