Spoke to Carlos Fuentes (public info from website) he was very rude and disrespectful. This is a Thursday, 10/31. I asked to schedule an appt for my kids, he said when do you want, I said when is available, he said “today, tomorrow, all next week, whenever. ” I said “do you guys still take my girls Iowa total care”, he said “no, we never have”. Me “oh I thought you guys took my kids insurance” him: “We have never taken medical insurance” awkward pause. him again: “we are a dentist office we take their mcna. ”. Unnecessary arrogant comment when he knew what I meant and he wasted both of our times but whatever so I said “okay” and then scheduled a later date and we hung up. Right after I hung up I realized I needed to schedule it sooner. So I immediately called back, repeatedly. No answer each time. I felt with his tone during our phone call that he was purposely ignoring it.

So I asked my boyfriend to call, my boyfriend’s phone call was immediately answered. I called back a min later then my call was answered, and I ignored them ignoring my call and went on to say how I needed to reschedule my kids appts to tomorrow, he said how there’s none tomorrow now. I said how he just told me how there was multiple tomorrow. And he snarkily said “well that was 10 min ago. ” And then I heard a girl laughing in the background to this comment. And then I said “look you guys don’t need to be dic*s, you just said there were multiple appts, you purposely ignored all my calls, and now you’re lying to me when I’m just trying to get my kids seen. And he said “there’s only one person up here at the desk taking care of the phone and stuff, and if you don’t like our business go somewhere else” and I said “that’s not true I just heard that girl laughing, and no one likes your business, have you read all the reviews of your terrible customer service, I’m not the only one, it’s not that hard to do your job. ” Then he said “don’t like our business, go somewhere else” and hung up on me” then I get a text that they canceled appts. And as you can see here with the picture below my original call to the business was at 9:48 for 5 min, hung up at 9:53, so in just a few min he supposedly booked all the spots they had available for tomorrow!? Oh but the kicker is I had my friend call to schedule their daughter for an appt tomorrow, and he told them, “they’re not open on Fridays”. So first I was told multiple available, then I was told he scheduled them to someone else in between our phone calls (5 min), and then turns out they’re actually not even open on Fridays. So he never looked to begin with. Terrible customer service.

Then I come in person to talk to the manager or get the corporate number. There is none he can give me. And there is no other female in the office today besides very own Dr. Hammond herself. So it was Dr. Hammond who laughed at the comment Carlos made egging the disrespectful customer service. And let me be clear, I did absolutely nothing but be kind until after that comment. After reading all these other reviews, I honestly think Dr. Hammond and her office is discriminating against those with MCNA dental insurance. There is absolutely no reason based off all these reviews for to treat people so poorly, they honestly have to go out of their way, it’s like they offer accepting this insurance because they like being mean to people and they feel this is a way to do it because we’re poor or something it’s crazy honestly. You get better customer service at McDonalds. For you other MCNA dental people go to: Walnut Hills Pediatric Dentistry Des Moines Children’s Dentistry Dentistry for Children of Des Moines I hope this helps all you other parents out and saves you all from putting up with literally some of the saddest people I’ve ever encountered and I hope you don’t put yourselves or your kids thru that!

Almost a couple of years ago, my daughters dentist referred her to this pediatric dentist for a filling. While the consultation appointment went well, I can not say the same for the 2nd appointment & the events after. To my surprise they said that parents cannot go back for the filling procedure. (they told me this there and gave me a paper before the filling appointment) I thought this was weird but agreed, as I thought they may have a good reason. However, the day of the filling, my daughter said she was very scared & that the dentist was rude. as a result she cried.

I could tell something was wrong when she came out and I refused to schedule the 2nd filling appointment. (They alleged she needed 2 fillings & recommended separate appointments) I’m not a dentist, & I myself have a filling. When I saw my daughters I knew it didn’t look “right”. When I went back to her dentist, I explained what happened & that I refused to go back. They explained that she did not in fact need another filling as they said. Since that, pieces of that filling has continued to fall & my daughter complains of sensitivity.

My daughter continues to go to her routine check ups & the most recent one (June 2024) they said and word for word “she may want to get that redone when she’s older. It looks funny. ” Yesterday, a big piece fell out. Needless to say, I’m calling her dentist first thing in the morning.

Dr Hammond was very impatient to my autistic son. Dr Hammond seemed rush and was very inconsiderate of my son’s needs. Towards the end of the cleaning, the hygienist came and got me. My son was crying and very upset. He said the dentist was mean to him and kept yelling at him for things he couldn’t help.

He also said he asked for me several times but they didn’t come get me until the end. It was a traumatic experience that has undone hard work by previous dentists who took their time to help my son get used to having his teeth cleaned. Do NOT go here if you have an anxious child or a child with special needs.

My kids have been seen here a couple times, despite being a pediatric dentist it does always give the vibe. I guess it depends on the workers or the day. At times I felt like the staff (Not all but most) could be more patient and caring toward the little ones. It was never a huge deal. BUT . . . Today I got a call basically discharging my family because I did not call ahead to reschedule an appointment that I never received initial or reminder message about. I literally have screenshots. When I tried to explain the lady said I had confirmed a month ago, I thought that was odd because a month ago I called and rescheduled. might I add. . . I take responsibility for not writing the information down because I am used to getting the text messages (I need the digital trail I am a mother of 5, on any day I have a easy 6/7 kids in my possession. . . I can literally write it down and still forget it) ANYWAY.

. . I never received anything regarding the appointments. After I got off the phone I went through my messages turns out the confirmed appointment from the date SHE spoke of was in fact the appointment that was rescheduled a whole month ago due to the fact our insurance had lapsed and I told them I needed to make sure our insurance was active because I did not have the funds to pay out of pocket. . I don't know if they just didn't care to look into it or what but I was told the DR. didn't want to see us anymore because I should have called yesterday, because I knew my insurance wasn't active . . very unprofessional but ok. (not entirely what was said but how she said . . Whatever. . I go on. . but I will not. I feel like even if they could reschedule our appointments, I wouldn't want to go to a place that would kick us out for a miscommunication on their end.

I don't know what upset me more The fact that she lied and said I had already confirmed, knowing there was never a text sent out or the manner in which they handled everything. . I could go on and post screenshots from the phone calls to the old text messages. . Will not make a difference. . I'd never go back I don't like the way we were treated about something that was not entirely on me. As I said above I take accountability for my part but give one grace! clearly I have 4 kiddos scheduled LBVS, I NEED that reminder! 24 hour reminders make a great difference. . all I could do was shake my head. Tragic ending indeed. Now I have to find a new dentist office for my kids. . it's all so frustrating.
