The Sixth District
Dental Society (SDDS) is a professional organization dedicated to improving the oral and dental health of the public and promoting the art and science of dentistry and its collateral branches. Functioning as a non-profit entity, it is a component of the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) and a member organization of the American Dental Association (ADA), connecting its members to a broader network of dental professionals and resources.
The SDDS serves a wide geographical area in New York, encompassing the counties of Broome, Chenango, Chemung, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins. Its mission is multifaceted, including facilitating continuing professional education for its members, upholding legal and ethical dental practices, and acting as a resource for both dental professionals and the public.
For the public, the SDDS offers valuable services such as a "
Find A Dentist" search tool to locate dentists and specialists within the district. It also provides information concerning dentistry and definitions of dental terms through its "Links" section, and actively participates in public health initiatives like Children's Dental Health Month and Oral Cancer Awareness. The society also handles Peer Review and Quality Assurance and Ethics Committee activities to assist in resolving conflicts with member dentists.
For its members, the SDDS provides access to a wealth of resources and benefits. These include continuing education opportunities (like mandated CE courses), networking events, and information on practice management. Membership in the SDDS also connects dentists to the wider benefits and advocacy efforts of the New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association, offering support and guidance throughout their careers. The society's commitment extends to staying informed on current dental news and legislative changes affecting the profession.
Located at 55 Oak St, Binghamton, NY 13905, the Sixth District Dental Society is a cornerstone of organized dentistry in its region, striving to elevate the standard of
dental care and foster a thriving dental community.
