Detailed Introduction

Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry is a well-established and highly-regarded clinic located at 3422 12th Ave NE, Olympia, WA 98506. The clinic is specifically designed to cater to the unique dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents. Their philosophy centers on making dental visits a positive and comfortable experience for young patients, thereby instilling good oral hygiene habits from an early age. The clinic boasts a team of board-certified pediatric dentists, including Drs. Rowley, Ruder, Shavron, and Callender, who possess specialized training beyond general dental school to address the specific concerns of children's oral health. They are recognized for their gentle approach, patience, and ability to make children feel at ease, even those with dental anxiety or special health concerns. Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry offers a comprehensive range of services, including routine check-ups, cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and "fixing sugarbugs" (cavity treatments). They also provide more advanced procedures such as interceptive orthodontics/space maintainers, crowns, tooth-colored fillings, laser dentistry for procedures like tongue tie correction, and various sedation options, including laughing gas, conscious sedation, and general anesthesia, to ensure a comfortable experience for all patients. The clinic environment is thoughtfully designed to be kid-friendly, featuring a custom "small" door at the entryway, a modern and life-size tree house in the waiting room, and bright, open treatment rooms with ceiling-mounted TVs to distract and entertain children during procedures. They prioritize patient and parent education, building personal relationships with families, and tailoring treatment plans to individual needs. Beyond the dental office, Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry is deeply committed to the community. They actively participate in outreach programs, visiting local preschools to educate children on oral hygiene, and financially supporting various local organizations, charities, and school events. Their dedication to children's oral health extends to providing free dental screenings and partnering with institutions like the Hands On Children's Museum during Dental Health Month. Many parents who were once patients now bring their own children to the clinic, attesting to its long-standing legacy of quality care and positive experiences.

I am extremely grateful for Small to Tall and wanted to especially thank Dr. Rosaleen Shavron. My two oldest children have issues where their teeth formed in such a way that they are prone to root canals. They were able to spot one for my daughter and my son- they were not in pain but a blister had formed on their gums indicating an infection. When this occured the second time, I was distraught.

Dr. Shavron went above and beyond to help ease my anxieties- she sought recommendations for an endodontist who would be in network with our insurance, she also did preventive measures on my son's other tooth to try so that it wouldn't happen again. She also called the endodontist to make sure that despite their busy schedule, they could treat my son soon. Overall, despite a hard situation, she showed much compassion and knowledge to deal with this. I am so grateful for her care, she is an incredible doctor.

*** Just one note, my youngest child liked Small to Tall but disliked their horizontal benches so we regretfully went to Olympia pediatric dentistry because the male dentist there was wonderful. After he moved away, my child saw another dentist there—- PLEASE BE AWARE, OPD unnecessarily encourages children to get a procedure done to cut their frenulum! We went to our pediatrician and speech therapists for a second and third opinion and they said it wasn’t needed! OPD is known to do these unnecessary procedures! We are back to Small to Tall and the dentists there also said he doesn’t need the procedure! OPD also gave us a referral to a private speech therapist that doesn’t take insurance! It was super shady.

When my 3 year old son had a terrible fall that left him with 4 missing teeth and a fifth that was dislocated, we needed immediate help. Small to Tall’s Dr. Ruder was the only dentist in the county who answered the phone after-hours and assured us that he would make the time to help us. Within 24 hours, Dr.

Ruder had provided us with complete care for our son, including an emergency tooth removal. The gentle soothing strategies he used made my son feel at ease, including letting him choose a movie to watch while the procedure was being done. I highly recommend this dentistry office because they really make kids feel at ease with toys, movies, and even a tree house in the lobby! Thank you, staff of Small to Tall for helping us in our time of need!

We have been going here for about a year now and absolutely love it. The staff are so friendly. Our insurance changed and we were unsure if we would be able to continue going but Josie and Caleigh went above and beyond to help us out and make it happen. They are best and I would recommend them anyday!

My infant had a tongue and lip tie. We went in for a consult and had the procedures done same day. All very quick and they even offered a follow up to be sure healing was going well. Everyone was very kind, considerate and well versed in the topics. Felt very taken care of and you could just feel how much they cared for children here.
