I took my five-year-old and my three-year-old for their first Dentist visits and it went really well! Brenna was really good with both our kids helping them feel comfortable and having a good experience during their X-rays and cleanings. Dr. Chad was great and very kind as well.

Eyes Open

The dentist used a huge gauge needle to numb my child and did it too fast. We had his other front tooth extracted at another pediatric dentist and they used a super flexible tiny needle to numb him and he didn’t even cry. If you offend the manager in any Smart Pediatric Dentistry office by complaining about anything they will ban you from all the Smart Pediatric Dentistry Offices, even though they have different managers. They won’t listen to your side of the story. Too bad they choose to lose business due to an uniformed and unsympathetic manager at the Provo location after my child was traumatized from an extremely painful numbing shot and they didn’t tell us how painful it is to put a giant needle in the front teeth. My child was screaming a worst scream I have heard from a child for a solid minute as they moved from a medium needle to then a huge thick needle and blood was squirting out of his mouth.

It was like the sound of a mother giving birth and we were just as traumatized as parents. The manager said it is not more painful than the rest of the mouth but he isn’t a dentist and a dentist at another office disagreed with him. It’s our first child and we were not told how traumatic the pain might be to our 5 year old who then refused to go to their office and let any other dentist look at him. When we opted for no gas mask to be healthier, they should have explained the emotional risks and how it would increase his pain significantly. They also didn’t explain how important the yucky tasting swab of numbing gel was and we were not prepared and my child rejected it. Our only option now is expensive anesthesia which is much more dangerous than laughing gas.

A dentist’s job is to inform us if we make dumb choices not just ask if we want laughing gas and then walk off. It is great they respected our choice but they also didn’t explain the potential consequences and risks vs. benefits. Not too smart for an office using the name “Smart. ”

The staff here is amazing! Every interaction is so positive. They are so darling and kind to my kids (ages 8,6, and 2). Dr. Chad is great too!! My kids look forward to going to the dentist.

With the kind and helpful staff members, the calming atmosphere, and the prizes and accomodations for the kids (TV while you get your teeth done? I wish they did that when I was little!), I would recommend this dentistry to anyone. The location is also great for us living here in Vineyard. I've had so many pleasant interactions with all staff members, and have gotten a lot of helpful insight from Dr.

Chad on my kiddo's oral health. Thanks so much for making trips to the dentist a positive experience for children!
