I had an incredibly frustrating experience with the front desk at Smile Loft regarding my Veterans Affairs (VA) dental insurance. I informed them multiple times that, as my primary dentist, I did not need a referral for every visit. Despite having already received a referral for general dental care, they argued me down, insisting otherwise. To ensure I was correct, I called and spoke with the VA twice before my appointment, confirming that I was following the proper process. However, the front desk staff completely dismissed everything I explained.
The lack of understanding and willingness to work with me left me feeling unheard and disrespected. After this unnecessary back-and-forth, I decided not to return to Smile Loft. I had to push forward with the appointment because I needed periodontal care coming up soon, but I’m thankful I had another insurance option. Otherwise, they could have seriously disrupted my dental care regimen. Unfortunately, this experience showed a lack of professionalism and proper knowledge about handling VA insurance.
I cannot recommend this office for veterans needing reliable and respectful care. The reason for two stars instead of one is that I received the cleaning even if it was quick.

I’ve gone to Smileloft for over ten years, and the experience has always been top notch. The place is clean and the staff professional. Monica, the hygienist, did a great job cleaning my teeth gently and was very personable! I recommend!

This office was a mess. I went for a check up as a new patient. I provided the office the information they were looking for ahead of time. I was there early to fill out my paperwork. When I got called back, they tried making me do the X-rays I already sent them and that my insurance wouldn't cover if I did it again. Which would have been a huge expense without her letting me know. They didn't have the X-ray I sent in the file. So, I told them I already emailed it to them. They didn't believe me.
I insisted that they go check their email account. They found it and put it in my folder. Then I waited in the exam room. She tried to take more X-rays without my permission and without telling me how much it is. I said no. I said I wanted a physical exam and I would provide the additional X-rays later. The doctor refused to do a check up on me without these additional X-rays. The receptionist that asked me to send the files I had over, didn't say I needed to send anything else. She insisted that the only X-rays they needed were the ones I sent.
The doctor refused to see me. She tried to get me to do the X-rays again. I said no. I said if she's going to refuse, I'll just leave and that it was a huge waste of my time. She tried to get me to reschedule my appointment. What a waste of time.

First visit, new patient. I’m feeling a bit uneasy about the integrity of this practice. I was told that I was gonna see a certain dental hygienist when I made my appointment and when I arrived I got another. She was new herself and seemed very nervous and unsure of what to do and how to do it. She did a decent job cleaning my teeth.
I’ve had better cleanings, but she still did good. I’ll give her grace because it seemed like she was an experienced hygienist in a new environment. My issue is I asked for information about Invisalign and was given a quote for a “flat fee”. When asked about it, I was told that everyone gets charged the same price because Invisalign cost the same for everybody and told me I needed to make a separate appointment to come back for a consultation for Invisalign, so without a consultation to assess the condition of my mouth and how long my treatment will need to be you’re telling me how much my treatment is going to cost? Also, the dentist came in and spoke to me for about five minutes, examined my mouth, gave me no feedback about my dental health. I made my follow up appointments, but I don’t know if I’ll be returning.
Just seems like they’re not very thorough and there’s definitely a money grab going on in there. Update: I have decided not to continue care with this practice. In my personal opinion, there’s a lack of professionalism and the integrity of this practice is questionable based on further experiences I had outside of my initial first visit as a new patient.
