Detailed Introduction

Smile Source is a prominent and expansive network specifically designed to support and empower independent dental practices across the United States. Established in 2006, its core mission is to "preserve, protect, and elevate private practice dentistry through community, leadership, and innovation." This is achieved by providing its member dentists with a comprehensive suite of resources and benefits that help them thrive in an increasingly competitive dental landscape, often dominated by larger Dental Support Organizations (DSOs). One of the primary advantages of being a Smile Source member is the significant purchasing power it offers. By consolidating the buying needs of over 1,000 member dentists, Smile Source can negotiate deep discounts and favorable terms with a wide array of top-tier dental vendors for equipment, supplies, labs, and services. This directly translates to reduced overhead costs and increased profitability for individual practices. Beyond cost savings, Smile Source provides extensive business and practice management support. This includes assistance with areas such as payroll and HR solutions, patient financing options (like CareCredit and iCredit), and even the creation of customized in-house dental savings plans. They aim to streamline the operational aspects of a dental practice, allowing dentists to focus more on patient care. Marketing assistance is another key benefit. Smile Source helps members develop effective marketing strategies, provides access to marketing analytics, and offers expertise to attract and retain more patients. This is crucial for independent practices looking to grow their patient base. A distinctive feature of Smile Source is its emphasis on community and collaboration. The network fosters an environment where "dentists help dentists," promoting mentorship, peer-to-peer learning, and the sharing of best practices. This includes regional and national meetings, an active online community, and mastermind sessions where dentists can discuss challenges and find solutions together. This "community over competition" philosophy is central to their value proposition. Smile Source also invests in continuing education and professional development for both dentists and their teams. Members gain access to industry-leading educational content, webinars, and events, often at discounted prices, ensuring they stay current with the latest advancements in dentistry and practice management. In 2025, Smile Source further solidified its commitment to independent dentistry by merging with ACT Dental, a renowned dental practice coaching and education company. This merger is set to enhance the support system for independent dentists by combining Smile Source's extensive network with ACT Dental's expertise in coaching, leadership development, and practice growth strategies. In essence, Smile Source acts as a strategic partner for private dental practices, providing them with the tools, resources, and collective strength to compete effectively, reduce operational burdens, increase profitability, and ultimately, preserve their independence and focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

I saw Dr. Lynch and his bedside manners are fantastic! He made it clear what I needed done, why, and what order to plan my treatment.

I wish I remembered my Xray techs name (pretty lady with the red hair) but she’s so fast and reassuring, I hope everyone gets her for their X-rays! Natasha at the front is the best! She broke down the price of everything and even called before my appointment so I had no surprises when I got there. I look forward to my future treatments

First, let me say I regret having to write this review. I went to Smile Source Dental on South Hairston more than a year ago after reading reviews about Dr. Brandon Lynch. I actually thought this was his private practice initially. After my positive initial consultation I decided to give this office a try. I was looking for a dentist near me. I loved my former dentist but they are now an hour away. I believe yesterday (10/31/24) was my third cleaning at Smile Source. When I arrived, I was told I didn't have insurance coverage. I told them I had insurance and once they discovered the error, they agreed. I was asked if I wanted the fluoride treatment. I said I would decide and pay after my cleaning was completed. The receptionist later returned to me to say I needed to pay before the cleaning. I normally would have refused but I really tried to be accommodating and patient. However, I had made up my mind that I would not be returning. My decision was to just get through this cleaning.

I really can't go into all the details of this visit because it would be too long. I'm in my 70's and I have always taken care of my teeth so I have had numerous cleanings, as you can imagine. The hygienist was very personable and nice but I regretfully have to say that this was the worse cleaning I have ever had. It was extremely uncomfortable, water was running everywhere and at times she seemed to dig so deep that she literally struck a nerve. She didn't work one quadrant at a time. She seemed to be all over the place. My teeth weren't completely clean when she finished. She asked me to look into the mirror to see if I saw any more stains. I did. The receptionist attempted to apply the fluoride. I told her and the doctor in the room that I didn't want the fluoride applied until my teeth were completely cleaned. The receptionist told me that was not the doctor's job. I told her I wasn't asking the doctor to do it. I just wanted it done. The hygienist returned and "dug around" a little more but again, my teeth weren't totally clean when she finished. I want to add that I expressed concern before the cleaning about staining and a tooth filling that needed to be corrected.

The doctor worked on the filling and fixed it. He also took pictures of the leftover stains and suggested I come in every four months instead of six. I was okay with the suggestion. I was just not okay with the cleaning and being asked to pay before service was rendered. I honestly would not have gotten the fluoride if I had not already paid. It should not have been done by a receptionist. Lastly, why wasn't I notified that Dr. Brandon was no longer there? The hygienist that previously cleaned my teeth was also no longer there. I would think a notice should have been sent to patients about both of them. Again, I regret having to write this troublesome review and I hope it results in necessary changes. I am going to make an appointment as soon as possible with another dentist because I fear some harm might have been done during the cleaning. I hope not but I was eating some warm oatmeal for breakfast and I felt nerve pain. I never had this pain prior to this cleaning. The staff was pleasant but there was some lack in professionalism and competence.

First time visiting went to the South Harrison location. My appointment was set for February 19 2025 at 10am. I enter the building I was not greeted at all by the two ladies at the front desk. The first young lady you approach which was the slimmer one she really needs customer service skills was rude looking at me all crazy acting like she didn’t want to be there which made me feel uneasy. I proceeded to fill in my paperwork, a strong urge came over me saying don’t do it.

I politely got up, took the paperwork and walked out the door. About three minutes later, I received a call from the same young lady that was being rude and asked was I coming back? I told her no thank you I’d rather go to a different dentist. Anyone who works for someone else’s company is a representation of them with that being said whoever the dentist was I knew I did not want them in my mouth. Unpleasant experience🙁
