As another former patient wrote recently and in a review a few years ago, don’t be fooled by the high Google ratings, and don’t just look at the first few reviews, you need to look at all of them. For all the good or great reviews, the bad ones were bad. I was excited to have a highly rated dentist in my neighborhood. At the initial visit, I was impressed. The staff was pleasant and professional, the office was nice and clean, and Dr. Sowell had a pleasant demeanor. I received an exam and went back the next week for cleaning and the repair of some fillings.

Not a week later, I started feeling some pain and sensitivity on the right side of my mouth that got progressively worse. I saw her several times afterwards and she could never tell me the source of the pain On one occasion, she had some assistant working with her, who she had to constantly give instructions to while examining me. I gave her several chances to make things right. She caused me a lot of pain and it was only when I went to two other dentists that I found out from one the horrible job she had done with some of the fillings, and when I sent the x-rays over from the other dentist, that was when she decided to act, and that did not resolve the issue. I didn’t find out until almost three months later that I had a tooth with an infected pulp that had been covered by one of the fillings she put in. She took so many x-rays but apparently didn’t see that. The x-rays they sent couldn’t be used by my new dentist, because no notes were included, and he couldn’t tell the difference between the old fillings and the new ones.

What looks good on the outside may be quite the opposite on the inside. Don’t be fooled by appearances. I would not trust her to do any major work on my teeth. I am not writing this review out of spite, I am writing because I went to her for dental care and the treatment she provided was subpar, and it caused me physical pain, and emotional pain because it was caused by a woman of color, like me. I don’t want anyone to go through what I did and wind up having an experience like I did, especially if they are paying out of pocket. And if you ever decide to transfer to another dentist after visiting her office, don’t let them just send you your x-rays via email or tell you they can’t give you the notes, you have a right to all your records, notes included.

I had some fillings done here. Two of them cracked almost immediately. I went to a different dentist and he said that several of the fillings Dr. Sowell did didn't actually get the whole cavity - so now I have to have them redone. Huge waste of time and money.

Dr. Sowell also did a "cosmetic bonding procedure" without asking me if I wanted that done and then charged me $75 for it. I will not be coming back and absolutely do not recommend this place.

I wish I had been coming to Dr. Sowell years ago and my teeth would have looked like they look now. The parcel fits perfectly and she’s gentle and kind as she works on your mouth. I will recommend her to my friends and associates. I am so blessed to have her as my Dentist!!!!
