I used to love going here. Dr. Gallo is very nice. My son has serious issues with his teeth (shark tooth and lacking enamel). The doctor put him on a scheduled plan to take care of it "as soon as possible". This is mainly to prevent the cavities he has from spreading and causing more damage. My kid takes this situation very seriously as well. So you can imagine the fear and worry he gets when his appointments are pushed back, prolonging the issues. The office has now canceled my child's appointments three times in a row, without much warning. The first cancellation was informed to us the night before the appointment. The doctor's child was sick, we understand. While rescheduling on the phone for 30 min, we made sure to tell them that our child had a specific schedule to respect.

No worries, they can squeeze it all in one appointment. The next cancellation was cancelled at the office. As soon as we arrived, they informed us that they lost their internet connection that morning. They didn't think about calling us to cancel. At that time, I reminded them of my child specific needs for appointment scheduling. I made it clear that I had concerns that it would be scheduled in the wrong order since it was the second cancellation. They reassure me that they would make sure it is done right. That brings me to the third cancellation. It was an hour in advance, by phone. They also took time to celebrate that they warned us ONE hour in advance so that our day wouldn't be affected. They cancelled because my son plan is scheduled all wrong for his treatment, which they previously assured me would not happen. This has changed my child's entire scheduled treatment plan, which when told to the staff, they didn't seem to care.

The staff at the reception are horrendously slow. Not only do they make you wait 30 to 40 minutes to check out, but they do it with a bad attitude. When they look for appointments, they only care about fitting everything in, regardless of the child's treatment plan and future schedule. As I told them on the latest call while they were cancelling on me, it's been months that my child's teeth has not been inspected by his Dentist. I had to repeatedly insisted for them to at least consult the doctor on this fiasco, which the receptionist's resisted, telling me it wasn't possible. I had to fight with them for 30 minutes on the phone before they finally agreed to talk to the doctor about this wrong scheduling. Let me be clear, I know this is possible, I work in the medical field, I feel sorry for the people who actually don't know this and get pushed around by people like who I talked with on the phone. So here we are with three cancellations, months without seeing the doctor, and a kid with anxiety about what is going to happen with his teeth. My child also recently lost his front tooth (from his shark tooth behind pushing it out) and he made a note asking the tooth fairy to fix his teeth. While this was a bit heart wrenching to us, maybe the tooth fairy would be more dependable.

Unfortunately since Dr Gallo left, this place has gone down hill. We used to love it and she was was so sweet and great with kids. Dr Jason Davis was very blunt and rude and has no social skills. We had to change dentists after being treated so poorly. He needs to learn some manners and how to communicate better.

Look someone in the eye when you talk and introduce yourself that will go a long way. Hopefully he will improve in that area. Rest of the staff was nice and friendly.

Southwoods consistently exceeds my expectations. They are kind and courteous, and always help my children develop better habit with brushing and flossing. They take thier time, and the quality of the service really comes through with each visit.

I have now been using Southwoods for over a year, and won't be moving to another pediatric dentist anytime soon. These guys are awesome, thier facilities are clean, and organized and most importantly everything is kid friendly.
