Detailed Introduction

St Paul Pediatric Dentistry, located at 373 Ruth St N Suite D, St Paul, MN 55119, is a dedicated pediatric dental clinic committed to serving the unique oral health needs of children and adolescents. The clinic emphasizes creating a positive and comfortable environment for young patients, aiming to alleviate dental anxiety and instill good oral hygiene habits from an early age. Their services encompass a wide range of pediatric dental care, including preventive measures like oral hygiene instruction (proper brushing, flossing, and eating habits), fluoride treatments, and BPA-free pit and fissure sealants to protect against cavities. They also provide restorative dentistry, offering both tooth-colored and traditional silver fillings, as well as white (tooth-colored) crowns when appropriate. In cases of dental emergencies, the clinic strives to provide prompt and compassionate treatment. St Paul Pediatric Dentistry utilizes a "tell-show-do" method to help children understand procedures and feel at ease. For patients who may experience anxiety, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available to promote comfort and facilitate a successful procedure. The clinic is committed to discussing all treatment options with parents and answering any questions they may have. They often invite parents to be present with their children during restorative procedures. The philosophy of St Paul Pediatric Dentistry aligns with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommendations, advocating for a child's first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth eruption. This early intervention helps in guiding parents on proper dental care, addressing preventive issues, and establishing a positive relationship between the child and the dentist. They stress the importance of maintaining healthy primary (baby) teeth to ensure proper chewing, provide space for permanent teeth, and support normal jaw development. The clinic also uses low-radiation digital X-rays to diagnose and monitor dental health, ensuring patient safety. The clinic serves patients from birth through their teenage years, focusing on a comprehensive approach to pediatric dental care that fosters a lifetime of healthy smiles.

I've been taking my 3 kids to St Paul Pediatric Dentistry since my oldest was 5, so about 10 years now. I was originally referred over to them from a general dentist for my oldests cavity fillings. They have always been polite and friendly. They treat kids so nicely and put them at ease during dental work. They don't push for treatments, they make recommendations and its up to you to follow through.

They explain things clearly in ways you can understand. My daughter really puts up a fight when she's there and they really know how to help overcome her resistance. They have a lot of patience and treat the kids great. My oldest is aging out but the younger two will continue to go here while they are still able.

I thought I was going to reschedule for a different day, but they were kind enough to fit me in in a different location. It was very helpful and convenient that they were very sweet and accommodating to my daughter made her feel warm and welcomed. Thank you ladies for your patience and help.

Not good for kids with anxiety. I've tried morning appointments and closing appointments. No matter what time of day, the hygeinicists are annoyed, rush my child, and overall impatient. The Last straw was the last appointment my daughter had in November 2024. She had a wiggly tooth that hurt when it moved and she needed x-rays. The hygienist (blonde lady with shell necklace) was annoyed with my daughter for being in pain and uncomfortable with the part that goes in her mouth, so she told my daughter "just pull it out and it'll be easier.

" My daughter felt pressured and started to try to pull her own tooth out. She was bleeding and crying. I told her to stop, she doesn't have to, but she felt pressured and felt bad for making the hygienist frustrated. I wish I had stood up for my daughter better, but that's on me. I was shocked that the hygienist told my 6 year old to rip her own tooth out just to make her own job easier. I did complain in a feedback survey but I guess that went nowhere.

Now I have set up appointments for my daughter at a small family clinic nearby. That hygienist with the shell necklace should be ashamed of her behavior and impatience. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not one star is because Dr. Carmen was very nice and patient with my daughter.

I have been bringing my daughter to Dr. Carmen and her team for several years now. When she hurt one of her teeth, Dr. Carmen set up multiple follow up appointments to ensure that everything was healing properly. She was clear about expectations for that tooth and the signs we should be looking for.

Over the years, I have never had to wait for my appointment. The team is always on time and they are great at putting kids at ease. My daughter is excited to go to the dentist and that is the biggest win for me.
