Detailed Introduction

St Paul Pediatric Dentistry, located at 6070 50th St N, Oakdale, MN 55128, is a dedicated pediatric dental clinic committed to the oral health of children from infancy through their teenage years. The clinic, accessible via their website http://www.stpaulkidsdentist.com/, prides itself on offering a wide range of specialized services tailored to the unique needs of young patients. The practice employs board-certified pediatric dentists, including Dr. Julie Haman, Dr. Carmen Lammeier, Dr. Sylvia Cuellar, and Dr. Neha Sethi, who have undergone extensive training beyond general dental school to specialize in pediatric care. This additional expertise allows them to address the specific developmental, behavioral, and dental needs of children. St Paul Pediatric Dentistry's services encompass: Preventive Oral Hygiene Instruction: This includes teaching proper brushing and flossing techniques, discussing ideal fluoride levels, and applying pit and fissure sealants to prevent cavities. They strive to make learning about dental hygiene fun and educational. Restorative Dentistry: Offering children's fillings, crowns, and prostheses, with a focus on treating conditions like nursing bottle decay. The clinic emphasizes discussing all treatment options with parents and answering their questions thoroughly. Emergency Treatment: While prioritizing prevention, the clinic is equipped to handle dental emergencies promptly and with compassion, understanding that these can be stressful for families. Special Needs Care: The dentists have additional training to provide dental care to children and adults with special healthcare needs, ensuring a comfortable and accommodating experience for all patients. The philosophy of St Paul Pediatric Dentistry centers on creating a positive "dental home" experience for children from their very first visit, ideally around their first birthday or six months after their first tooth erupts. They believe in fostering a trusting relationship with both the child and parent, encouraging open communication and informed decision-making. The clinic aims to empower patients and parents with the knowledge to maintain excellent oral health, utilizing a balanced approach that includes both definitive restorative treatments and minimally invasive techniques when appropriate. They also offer options like nitrous oxide and, when necessary, general anesthesia or IV deep sedation for comprehensive rehabilitation in cases of extensive disease or patient anxiety. Their ultimate goal is to instill positive associations with dentistry and ensure a lifetime of healthy smiles.

I know I posted once before about this place. But I transferred my youngest son here as well and they were AMAZING with him. He previous had a really really bad experience at another place but the ladies here were very calming and soothing with him and made him not scared again. If you have kiddos who are a little scared to go see the dentist I recommend this place!

SPPD does a great job being patient with my children. They made the experience for my two year old easy. He was able to get up and do the exam without me! Such a great group to care for my children’s teeth!

It’s imperative information is forthcoming during all visits. I contacted the office in March regarding discoloration of my daughter’s molars and complaints of discomfort/pain. The dentist examined the teeth/area and reassure the discoloration was normal. Our regular visit in May the dentist finally took X-rays of back teeth. I was informed she has 6 cavities. I’ve been coming to office since 2021/2022 for regular teeth examination so this is something that should have been caught.

Secondly, the appointments seem rushed. I’ve timed the last 3 visits. The dental assistant seem irritated during service. The body language and demanding is not welcoming. I do not recommend. Highly disappointed

A dentist that takes time and a team that really cares. I recently moved from the Maplewood area to the Stillwater area, so just far enough way that we needed to find new providers for just about everything. Right away the first thing that impressed me about this office was the front office staff. For whatever reason, our dental insurance is incredibly difficult to access. It has been a headache for the entire family. The front office staff here spent several days, calling several different offices, all trying to figure out our insurance before we arrived. I appreciated that they were willing to go that far for their clients. I also liked that they helped me find a time to bring both my kids in for a visit at the same time.

When we arrived we were also brought to a larger room in the back, which was great for my 1. 5 year old. It is those small thoughts and details that really make a difference. The hygienist and dentist were both fabulous. They made a big emphasis on this being a positive and calm experience for the boys. So if at any point the boys wanted to stop, that was it. I know that going to the dentist for me wasn't a scary experience because she always made sure I felt safe. I really appreciated that there was a similar emphasis here.

Of course they have TV's above the chair, which I wish they had for adults, so that definitely helps make the dentist a positive place. I want to say too that this was the first pediatric dentist my kids have had that took the time to really sit and talk with us. The previous dentist we went to actually forgot he had met me until the third or fourth visit. The dentist here really took the time to not only talk to me, but talk to my kids and build rapport with them. She also pointed out that my son's tonsils looked slightly larger than normal, and it might be worth looking into. Thanks to her recommendation we are scheduling a tonsil removal at the recommendation of an ENT. I really appreciated her willingness to take time and to think about health more inter-connectedly (I wouldn't have gone to an ENT had she not suggested we go).
