Detailed Introduction

Sterling Health Care - Mt. Sterling is a prominent healthcare provider in the Gateway region of Kentucky, operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This designation signifies its commitment to offering high-quality, comprehensive primary and preventative healthcare services to underserved and uninsured populations, receiving federal funding to support this mission. The organization was formed as Sterling Health Solutions, Inc. in 2009 by experienced local healthcare professionals, officially becoming an FQHC in June 2012. Their mission is to improve the lives of all people in the communities they serve through improved health, without regard for their ability to pay. To achieve this, Sterling Health Care implements a progressive sliding fee scale program, ensuring affordability for uninsured and low-income patients. Sterling Health Care offers a broad spectrum of services to cater to the diverse needs of the community. These include: Family Health: Providing general medical care for all ages, including chronic illness management, sick visits for various conditions (e.g., cold, flu, infections, allergies), and minor injury treatment. They also offer preventative care such as routine check-ups, cancer screenings, and immunizations. Dental Care: Addressing oral health needs. Behavioral Health: Offering mental health services. Pharmacy: Providing access to necessary medications. Women's Health: Specialized care for women. Children's Health: Dedicated services for pediatric patients. School-Based Health: Extending healthcare services into local schools. Substance Use Treatment: Including programs like Sterling Crossroads, which offers individual and group therapy, case management, and Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT). Vision Care: Addressing eye health. The clinic emphasizes a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) approach, aiming to provide holistic care that addresses mind, body, spirit, and community. They prioritize accessibility through walk-in appointments and, in some cases, virtual care options. They also have partnerships, such as with Quest Diagnostics, for on-site lab testing. Beyond direct medical services, Sterling Health Care demonstrates significant community involvement. Since 2012, they have been a growing presence in Mount Sterling and surrounding areas, with staff and providers actively participating in community initiatives. This includes supporting local programs, engaging in outreach and donations, and hosting events like expungement clinics and health-focused community gatherings. They serve various counties, including Montgomery, Clark, Powell, Nicholas, Bourbon, Bath, and Menifee. Patient reviews generally reflect positive experiences, praising the friendly and attentive staff, thorough explanations from providers, minimal wait times, and clean facilities.

Update: I have updated my review because they were extremely quick to respond to my original review and offer me solutions, letting me know that I had other options. On that same note, the ladies at the women's clinic in Winchester were extremely kind, and made my dreaded labs much less anxious and quick. Thank you to them, and Sabrina for calling and showing concern and care. Previous: Why be in the medical field if you can't stand people? I will be finding care elsewhere due to the fact that the self-proclaimed "only and best they got" lab woman has absolutely no empathy for patients.

She doesn't care if you're nervous or how long you wait, she doesn't care what you need or ask for. She's just dismissive and nasty. And since she made it abundantly clear that she'd be my only option for labs any time I need them if I continue with Sterling Health Care, I'll be looking elsewhere for a Healthcare community that employees people who can treat patients with understanding and empathy. Bedside manner used to be a prerequisite for the medical industry, but this woman has neither.

We're there because we need help, not because we need to be treated poorly and spoken down to by a phlebotomist on a power trip. The young teen who went right before me that was not nervous at all, ended up passing out. And she's "the best they got?"

While originally I am a patient of Dr. Lewis who is absolutely wonderful she has been on maternity leave & I have been working with one of the male doctors on staff the last couple of months. I have been coming to this office since August with zero answers as to what might actually be wrong me. They have sent for two tests & just this month I FINALLY received a referral to a specialist to hopefully get some answers. I have had negative experience after negative experience with this doctor solely. So much so I have spoken with the administrators of this location on more than one occasion. While they have been more than helpful they can only do so much when they are not clinical. I have fought tooth & nail with this doctor about FMLA paperwork. The last time I saw him he did not put updated paper work into my chart creating room for error if someone where to check that.

As well as not keeping adequate records which is apart of the job. When I called back in to have these documents faxed to my employer a week later because I was informed it had not been done. He instructed me to drive 45 minutes back to your office to give them the paperwork to fax. Mind you this is the second set of papers he needed to send & had no issues faxing it the first time. I very much so feel it has become personal from him. Your administration had to have me email the medical paperwork your doctor signed so THEY could email my employers. I will not mention names here so that there is no room for allegations of defamation. . I have tried to avoid calling this office since the beginning of the year because service has been that poor but unfortunately I needed a prescription refilled.

I was marked as urgent because of my medical condition & what the medication helps with. Only for it to be 24 hours later with still no help. The office has been made plenty aware of these issues & it’s still ongoing. I have filed a formal complaint with your office and will be reaching out to the medical board. I will moving forward be very vocal with anyone I encounter about my experiences with this facility. No one should have to go through this especially in the midst of an uncertain medical diagnosis. If I could rate less than 1 star I would. I’ve tried holding out until my original doctor returned but she may just have lost a patient due to the actions of another & the bystander effect that continues to allow it to happen.

When you send a letter stating you no longer have the best practitioner in your practice I am forced to ask myself why would anyone not do everything in their power to keep the most competent and intelligent practitioner on board? Those that have had the privilege to be Michelle Watkins patient will be reluctant to transition to any of your other practitioners. (I know I will not). I question your values because I know what Michelle values. She values her patients and their well being.

You have made a grave mistake that will likely cost you. You are in my opinion the problem with healthcare. Practitioners like Michelle, you will figure out, they are the solution.
