Came in as a brand-new patient—already in brutal pain—and was told it was “just gum irritation. ” After another sleepless night, I dragged myself back, shaking, with stabbing pain shooting from tooth to ear and relentless throbbing whenever I lay down. I spent over an hour in the chair being numbed repeatedly—yet left with no diagnosis, no urgency, and no plan. I even begged for an extra X-ray and offered to pay. The dentist insisted it was just gum irritation and a “high filling. ” I knew something was seriously wrong. That same evening, I went to a physician, and said it was likely an infection, and immediately started me on antibiotics. The pain was so intense I could barely walk. The next morning, I called the dental office. I explained I’d been put on antibiotics because “gum irritation” doesn’t cause this level of pain. Only then did the assistant re-check the same X-ray and finally admit it might show an infection near my sinus—something they either missed or ignored the days before - I went 2 times to the office.

Still no apology, just an emailed X-ray and referral number. No one even bothered to ask how I was doing. I’m not even sure they told the dentist. I tried to give calm, respectful feedback. I simply said: “Please let the dentist know to be more thorough next time, especially when someone is clearly in this much pain. ” I was cut off mid-sentence by the receptionist: “There was no infection. The dentist knows best. ” Dismissive. Defensive. Irritated that I even dared to speak up. Leaving a patient in that kind of agony, then scolding them for offering feedback, makes one thing very clear: they don’t care.

I told her i didn't want to take it publicly but the dismal was concerning and topped my experience off. Bottom line: DO NOT let anyone downplay your pain! Push for answers. Get a second opinion. This could’ve gotten worse if I hadn’t. I’ll never go back. I’m still trying to process how I was treated. I even told the dentist it was my birthday in a few days and that I didn’t want to be in pain - he didn’t seem to care. And if you knew you were going on holiday and were rushing, why take me in at all? I would’ve gladly seen someone else. Instead, I paid the price with my pain and my health.

Hands down, best dentist I’ve ever had. I’ve been with Dr. Huerta since the early days of The Dental Boutique. He and his team have been with me through it all— cleanings, root canal, emergency tooth repair, grinding, and general education about all things dental and gum care. The office is a little respite— complete with a pup, modern furnishings, Malin & Goetz, and refreshments.

All the staff is always friendly and flexible. I love how Dr. Huerta is always investing in technology and experience at his practice, bringing in new tools to make care more accessible. Truly, cannot recommend enough.

I've been a patient of Dr. Huerta for a long time and have always had a good experience. Priscilla is my favorite hygienist; she always thoroughly and gently cleans my teeth. I'm anxious about dental visits, and Luna always calms my nerves. Luna knows I am a wimp and doesn't judge me:) I highly recommended this office.

I was in New York on business and developed a nasty tooth ache / tooth emergency. I contacted 4 dentists who said they could not fit me in. Contacted Dr. Huerta’s office and they got me in within 24 hrs. The staff were incredibly patient and helpful. Dr.

Huerta had me pain free and good to go in a quick hour and a half. Being a life long Yankees fan and now having such a great dental experience, I almost want to move back to the City… almost. 😉 Thanks again for everything! Dr. Huerta, I wish you and your practice all the success in the world.
