Detailed Introduction

The Family Health Centers of Georgia, Inc. (FHCGA) is a well-established and highly accredited Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has been serving the healthcare needs of communities in metro Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounding counties since its inception in 1975. FHCGA operates with a core mission to provide comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to the communities it serves, with a strong commitment to excellence. This commitment extends to ensuring healthcare is accessible and affordable for all, regardless of an individual's health insurance status or ability to pay. FHCGA offers a wide array of healthcare services designed to address the holistic well-being of its patients. These services include: Primary Healthcare: Adult Medicine/Family Practice, Pediatrics/Adolescents, Women's Health (OB/GYN and Family Planning), and Vision care. Specialized Services: Behavioral Health (counseling for anger management, anxiety, stress, grief, depression, etc., and referrals for medication management), Pediatric Dentistry (with Dr. Dana Echols-Harris as Chief of Dental Services), and Pharmacy services. Supportive Programs: On-site laboratory services, assistance with health insurance applications (ACA, PeachCare for Kids, Medicaid, Planning for Healthy Babies - P4HB), care coordination, chronic disease management, health education, nutrition counseling, senior care, specialty referrals, HIV/PrEP services, and mobile medical and dental units. Community Outreach: FHCGA actively participates in public housing primary care and school-based health center programs, demonstrating its dedication to reaching underserved populations directly within their communities. FHCGA holds significant accreditations and affiliations, underscoring its commitment to quality and safety. Since 2002, FHCGA has maintained Joint Commission Accreditation. Notably, in 2010, it became the first community health center in Georgia, and the second in the Southeast, to be accredited by The Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home. In 2014, FHCGA further received the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) "Recognized-Level 3 on Achievement Recognition for Systematic Use of Patient-Centered, Coordinated of Management Process" certificate. These accreditations signify FHCGA's adherence to rigorous national standards for quality of care, patient safety, and the environment in which care is provided. The organization also receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Services (PHS) deemed status. Starting from modest beginnings with eight exam rooms, FHCGA has expanded significantly to more than 70 exam rooms across multiple locations in Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Floyd, Fulton, and Henry counties, including three mobile units. This expansion highlights their growth and dedication to increasing access to care. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, FHCGA plays a crucial role in the healthcare landscape, providing essential services to vulnerable populations and working to improve health outcomes across Georgia.
