Detailed Introduction

TMJ Treatment Centers, located at 26 E U.S. Hwy 30, Schererville, IN 46375, is a dedicated clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, also known as TMD or craniofacial pain. The clinic's primary goal is to provide comprehensive care for patients suffering from issues affecting the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, which can manifest as jaw pain, headaches, neck pain, difficulty chewing, and even ear pain. The clinic operates with a patient-centered approach, aiming to address the root causes of TMJ disorders. While specific details on all treatment modalities employed by TMJ Treatment Centers are best obtained directly from their office, general approaches to TMJ treatment often include a combination of conservative and, in some cases, advanced interventions. These can encompass: Conservative and Non-Surgical Treatments: This typically forms the first line of defense. It may involve patient education on self-care techniques such as resting the jaw, eating soft foods, applying ice or heat, and practicing good posture. Oral appliances like custom-fitted splints or nightguards are commonly used to prevent teeth clenching and grinding, reduce muscle tension, and protect the joint. Medications, including pain relievers, anti-inflammatories, and muscle relaxants, might be prescribed to manage pain and inflammation. Stress management techniques, physical therapy, and exercises to improve jaw mobility and function are also crucial components. Minimally Invasive Procedures: When conservative methods are insufficient, more targeted interventions might be considered. These can include corticosteroid injections into the joint to reduce inflammation, or in some cases, Botox injections to alleviate muscle-related pain. Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy, a regenerative approach, might also be offered to promote healing. Surgical Interventions (when necessary): Surgery is typically reserved for severe cases where other treatments have failed. Procedures can range from arthrocentesis (flushing the joint) and TMJ arthroscopy (minimally invasive examination and treatment of the joint) to more complex open-joint surgeries for jaw reconstruction or disk repositioning. TMJ Treatment Centers prides itself on its thorough explanation of conditions and treatment options, ensuring patients are well-informed and actively participate in their care plan. The clinic is associated with Dr. Peters, who, along with his staff, receives positive feedback for being personable, thorough, and efficient in patient care. The clinic appears to be part of a broader dental practice, as indicated by its connection to "Karwick Dental" at another location.

Absolute waste of time. $159 to stick his finger in my mouth and say "yup, you have TMJ issues". Also, filling out paperwork online, that takes forever, print off paperwork to fill out only to have the staff ask you the same questions. But...for $800 more, you can get a full exam. Save your money and time everyone. The greater at Walmart was more helpful on this matter

After months of pain, I was finally referred to Dr. Peters and it has been life changing. I was in constant pain, always on the edge of crying from the pain. The only advice doctors gave me was go on a no/soft food diet, live on ibuprofen and get Botox. Yes, Dr. Peters does charge for an initial appointment to make sure you do have tmj. Then You go for the in-depth appointment so that he can figure out the best treatment plan.

It was the best money I have spent. After just a few treatments the pain was minimal. Now 10 weeks in and the pain is gone. I can eat real food without thinking how much will I have to chew. If you have tmj he is the man to see and the staff is amazing. They will help with insurance and very flexible with appointments.

Since getting a treatment plan started with Doctor Peters this year for facial muscle fatigue and daily jaw pain it has made a world of difference for me. The only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. Because you can’t put a price on your own well being. My thanks also goes out to Ashley and Leeann for always being caring and informative.

On 2/20/22 I visited Dr. Peters at Tmj Treatment Centers. I was asked to pay $199. 00 before seeing the Dr. Dr. Peters talked to me briefly then a nurse gave me what I thought to be a comprehensive exam. Then I was told to get them the x-rays I had taken at imaging in Valpo. I delivered the x-rays and was asked for $75.

00 for the Dr. to read them. Now two and a half years later they still have not given me or Dr. Drone (my dentist) a report, even after being asked every few months for the report. Dr. Drones office have told me that they have requested the report from them also. Just a heads up, they seem competent but were not in my case.
