Detailed Introduction

The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, located at 801 Newton Rd, Iowa City, IA 52246, is a prominent institution that serves as both a comprehensive dental clinic and a leading academic center for dental education and research. As the only dental school in Iowa and one of only two in the United States to offer all American Dental Association (ADA) accredited dental specialty training programs, it plays a vital role in meeting the oral health needs of Iowans and beyond. For patient care, the College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics offers a full spectrum of dental services for both children and adults across ten dental specialties. These services are provided with an "academic difference," meaning patients benefit from the expertise of leading faculty dentists supervising student care, often at a reduced cost compared to private practices. Specialties include, but are not limited to, Endodontics, Family Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics. They also provide emergency care and are committed to accessibility, offering resources for low-income patients and veterans. Academically, the College offers a highly-rated Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program, preparing students for professional dental practice with a strong emphasis on clinical training and research exposure. The curriculum is designed to provide extensive hands-on experience, with students engaging in clinical activities from their first year. Beyond the DDS, the college offers various advanced degree programs, including certificates in all ADA-accredited residencies, Master of Science (M.S.) in Oral Science, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Oral Science. In terms of research, the College of Dentistry is at the forefront of innovation in oral health. Through the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research, faculty pursue basic, clinical, and translational research in areas such as biostatistics, bioengineering, tissue engineering, stem cells, craniofacial biology, immunology, microbiology, and public health. Their research efforts are often funded by federal, state, and private sources, contributing significantly to advancements in dental science and improving patient outcomes globally.

Absolutely in awe of the Pediatric Dentistry team. It seems like they must be including developmental psychology and how to treat kiddos 101 as part of their formal training curriculum! Thank you for your patience and gentle work.

The front desk was not helpful at all while I had my visit at this hospital, but the nurses and doctors were nice and helpful. I hope the hospital in charge bring some changes in front desk, very rude and disrespectful.
