Detailed Introduction

The UW School of Dentistry, located at 1959 NE Pacific St B-307, Seattle, WA 98195, is a prominent academic and clinical institution that serves the Pacific Northwest and beyond. As part of the University of Washington, it operates not as a single individual practice but as a comprehensive dental clinic system, encompassing multiple specialized clinics and a robust teaching environment. The School's primary mission revolves around three core pillars: patient care, dental education, and scientific research. For patient care, it offers a wide spectrum of dental services through various clinics: Teaching Clinics: Here, dental students, supervised by experienced faculty, provide general dentistry services such as exams, cleanings, fillings, and X-rays, often at fees significantly lower than private practices. This provides affordable care while training future dental professionals. Specialty Clinics: These clinics offer advanced care in various dental specialties, including Orthodontics (braces, Invisalign), Endodontics (root canals), Periodontics (gum disease treatment, implants), Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (extractions, implants, jaw surgery), Pediatric Dentistry (children's dental care), Oral Medicine (orofacial pain, TMJ), Prosthodontics (implants, bridges, dentures), and the DECOD Clinic (Dental Education in the Care of Persons with Disabilities) for patients with special needs. Some specialty clinics may require a referral. UW Dentistry Faculty Practice: This clinic provides comprehensive care delivered directly by highly skilled and experienced faculty dentists and specialists, offering a level of care comparable to private practices. Beyond patient care, the UW School of Dentistry is a leader in dental education, training predoctoral students, graduate students, and residents through rigorous academic programs and hands-on clinical experience. It is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and is actively engaged in strategic initiatives like "Advancing Oral Health for All" to promote belonging and well-being within its community. Furthermore, the School conducts extensive research to advance the understanding of oral and craniofacial health, covering biological, behavioral, social, biomedical, and clinical aspects. Its Office of Research supports faculty and student research, with numerous labs and centers contributing to new discoveries and innovations in dentistry. Patients can schedule appointments by calling (206) 616-6996 or through their online patient access portal. The School accepts various dental insurance plans, and payment is generally due at the time of service.

Had a dental issue, went to UW since I didn't have insurance. Got referred to a endo, waited a week until the issue turned into a painful emergency, needed urgent care but couldnt get in contact with anyone for days and days. Eventually had to go get emergency work done somewhere else, and was desperately trying to get UW to at least send my x-ray work over to the new place. . .

crickets. Ended up having to pay for x-ray work all over again at the new place. Got the UW bill in the mail today for all the fees I owe them, even though I STILL havent heard back from them about my emergency issue. Complete scam, avoid avoid avoid.

The students did an amazing job on my teeth back in the 90’s . I had every specialist from perio, endo and ortho. Since the work was completed I’ve referred my father for dentures and cousin for perio. I understand that this is not an idea place for urgent care, but quality and lower costs the wait was worth it.

I’ve had nothing but a great experience at the UW School of Dentistry. I was referred by another location in Seattle. In my case Nakita did a filling on my rear tooth. It went extremely great! She took her time, asked questions from her mentors before making any decisions, was very responsive to making sure I was comfortable as well.

let’s face it the dentist office is scary as heck. Nakita is going to be great in her practice as I’m sure all the students at UW will be. Go show some love and support the students at this location. My tooth looks great! I’m excited to return and get the rest fixed up! Oh and I also got my first cleaning done here as well and my teeth looks amazing 😁

I’ve been getting all my dental care done at the University of Washington school of dentistry. Each and every student I’ve ever worked with has been outstanding and careful and a pleasure to work with the same goes for the faculty and the supervising dentist. Most of all I feel I got very high-quality work.
