Detailed Introduction

The VA primary care and Dental Clinic in North Charleston, SC, is a key outpatient facility operating under the umbrella of the Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which is a highly-rated, 5-star medical facility in South Carolina and Georgia for quality and patient satisfaction. Located at 6450 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406, this clinic serves Veterans in the Charleston area by providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services. As a "Community-Based Outpatient Clinic" (CBOC), it offers a range of primary care services designed to be convenient for Veterans, reducing the need to travel to larger medical centers for routine care. These services typically include general check-ups, preventive care, and management of chronic conditions. A significant component of the clinic's offerings is dental care, which covers essential services like screenings, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and specialty procedures such as root canals, restorations, bridges, dental implants, and dentures. Beyond primary and dental care, the North Charleston VA clinic provides several other crucial health services, including: Specialty Health Services: The clinic offers various specialty health services, which may include nutrition counseling and women's health care. Access to additional specialty services not available on-site can often be arranged through referrals or telehealth appointments. Mental Health Care: Veterans can access confidential outpatient services for a range of mental health and emotional well-being issues, including individual and group therapy for conditions like PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship problems. Laboratory Services: The clinic provides on-site laboratory and pathology services, enabling Veterans to get blood tests and other advanced diagnostic testing to monitor their health and aid in treatment decisions. Support Services: Other support services typically include pharmacy access (with options for online, phone, or mail prescription refills), and potentially X-ray services. The clinic is committed to patient-centered care, coordinating services through a primary care team and offering options like telehealth visits. It operates Monday through Friday during standard business hours (typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and is part of a broader VA network dedicated to providing exceptional health care that improves the health and well-being of the nation's Veterans.

This is the newest Veterans Affairs clinic in the Charleston / North Charleston area, providing primary care and dental. The facility is very clean and easy to navigate. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. Having personally been through several different Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics, this clinic is definitely on my top 3 for quality of care. .

. From the dental clinic as well as appearance of the facility overall. Additionally, the location is easily accessible from the highway as well as the back and side roads.

We all have va horror stories or know of them. Well i have a positive story. The other day i was at a low mentally. I finally got the courage to go inside and ask for help. I walked in and asked the front desk if they have mental health care and if they take walk ins. She admitted that she wasn’t sure but had me sit next to her as she asked.

Shortly after i was in a room with a very sweet nurse who evaluated me. Then shortly after the psychiatrist entered and evaluated me further and helped me. They all admitted that this was not something they really do at that clinic but they do it if needed. I am very thankful for everyone at this clinic. They are always caring to me.

Policies like the ones here are the reasons that veterans kill themselves. I thought that what you hear about in the news was that veterans couldn't link their healthcare to their service. . . But it's not that at all. It's literally that the VA does everything it can to prevent you for receiving the care that they're entitled to. Months spent trying to get a therapy appointment have been almost entirely unsuccessful. Will not refer to community care even though appointments at the clinic are backed up by two months. The crisis line and white house line made no difference.

Once I finally got through to someone, I was told that I couldn't do couples therapy and normal therapy at the same time. I suppose that would just be too much health for one person to handle. They might actually get better. The hospital itself is clean and well kept and easy to navigate. The staff are very friendly. The policies are what make it difficult. Especially because the policies are just made up.

Top notch. Easy parking. Easy to find your way around. It doesn't have everything that it's sister Ralph H Johnson VA on Bee St has. But my doctors and nurses, and staff absolutely care about me and my well-being and that of other vets
