I began going to Vaya Dental a couple of years ago. At first, I had no problems. The dentist was competent and the staff was friendly and helpful. I attended an appointment recently and a new dentist told me I had two cavities. I returned to fix them and that was that. Then, I returned 6 months later for my routine cleaning, and the dentist told me I have 7 new cavities. I haven't even had 7 cavities in my whole life, so this seemed really strange.

The dentist was also being very pushy and saying these need to be fixed "as soon as possible". These fixes would have cost me over $1000 even with dental insurance. I was encouraged by a friend to get a second opinion, so I did. The new dentist told me about 4 cavities I have. However, two of them were on the two teeth the Vaya had just fixed. Vaya Dental was trying to charge me a second time to repair the same teeth that they did a poor job of fixing in the first place. I asked Vaya Dental for a refund of the two teeth, as that seemed like a reasonable request.

They offered me a $99 refund, which isn't even half of the refund I asked for initially. Then, they finally agreed to give me a refund for the out of pocket price I paid for the two teeth ($260) but told me I have to come into the office to pick up the check. When I asked them to mail it to me, they said they wouldn't be able to because I have to sign a form to get it. I asked them to send me the form and it was an NDA telling me I can't speak about this to anyone and I can't ever come back to them with complaints if this ends up being a bigger issue for me. I told them I wasn't comfortable signing this and never heard back for any attempt to resolve this situation. It is clear that Vaya Dental isn't engaging in ethical practices.
