Detailed Introduction

Waterloo Pediatric Dentistry is a specialized dental clinic located at 112 W Park Ln, Waterloo, IA 50701, focusing exclusively on the oral health needs of infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. The practice is led by Dr. Alison Christensen, a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist. Dr. Christensen is a Waterloo native and is committed to providing personalized and attentive care to every child, emphasizing the importance of positive dental experiences from a young age. The clinic offers a wide range of services designed to promote optimal oral health and address various dental concerns specific to children. These services include: Preventive Care: Regular check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and education on good oral hygiene practices to prevent dental problems. Restorative Care: Treatments for damaged or decayed teeth, including fillings (tooth-colored composite and stainless steel crowns), pulpotomies (for infected baby teeth), and gentle extractions. They also utilize minimally-invasive techniques like SDF and the Hall crown technique. Emergency Care: Prompt treatment for dental traumas, infections, and severe pain, with same-day emergency appointments available and after-hours care for true emergencies. Special Healthcare Needs: Dr. Alison provides specialized care and individualized treatment plans for children with developmental disorders, physical disabilities, and complex medical conditions. Space Maintainers: Used when a baby tooth is lost early to prevent surrounding teeth from shifting and causing crowding. Frenectomy: Offered for tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) with a holistic approach to address feeding or speech concerns. Sedation and General Anesthesia: Safe options to help anxious children or those needing complex procedures feel comfortable and pain-free, carefully monitored by qualified professionals. Waterloo Pediatric Dentistry is dedicated to creating a comfortable and fun environment for children, understanding that early positive experiences are crucial for fostering a lifetime of good oral health habits. Their philosophy centers on being compassionate, fun, and educational, ensuring that all patients are seen and heard regardless of their background. They encourage a child's first dental visit by age one or when the first tooth emerges to establish a strong foundation for dental health.

Absolutely amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience bringing my 2 year old to the dentist, and as a first time parent bringing him since he needed his tooth pulled. Staff was so patient and talked us both thru everything and they were able to keep my son calm thru the entire experience!

I am a busy mom of three and a full time college student and I can not believe how I was treated by this place. I was spoken to in an extremely rude manner several times by the dentist. They sent me a letter saying they would no longer see my kids after I missed one appointment. I understand that’s business but I never received a call and it was literally one appointment.

Honestly, this place is run by heartless people who really have no idea what it’s like to be a parent in today’s hectic world. Honestly such a toxic judgmental environment. Don’t bring your children here.
