If you are new in the area and looking for a dentist, look no further than West Bloomfield Center for Dentistry. Both my husband and myself have been patients of Dr. Young for more than 10 years. He is the most skilled professional we have experience in several countries that we have lived. His Hygienist, Kim, is excellent with her work.

She is also one of the best in her profession. His office manager, Nicole, is always on top of all aspects of administration work as well as being an outstanding assistant to Dr. Young during complicated dental work. I highly recommend West Bloomfield Center of Dentistry.

I had a wonderful first visit here and initially gave it 5 stars, was given some fun freebies in a bag and treated with kindness. They are all very kind! I didn't second guess being told I had several cavities (I had recently had a baby so thought maybe that's why and he had all this fancy equipment he used to "prove" the work I needed done) and booked two appointments to break up taking care of them. At the first procedure appointment, the dentist joked about my mouth paying for his kids college fund. I chuckled but was pretty bothered by the comment. He seemed kind so I buried the little voice telling me to question more. What was absolutely devastating was when my husband went to visit for the first time in between my procedure appointments. He was told he had several cavities (he's never had one in his life) and said we will be getting a second opinion. We got a second opinion and we're told that, even considering some dentists are quick to treat, he can't find anything in either of our mouths he could work on.

I quickly pulled my Google review and set it to 1 star. I was too upset to write more at the time. I let the insurance know and was told this is unfortunately not uncommon with some in network providers. I started paying out of pocket to be with a denrist I trust and actually pay less now and have no dental issues for the first time in my life because I do so. The result? I'm actually paying less because I'm not making out benefits/paying copays for unnecessary dental work This was several years ago and both my husband's mouth and my mouth have remained healthy. We've seen three wonderful dentists at the same fantastic office throughout the years and no one has ever suggested any of the work this dentist claimed needed to be done. Consumer beware. Do your homework.

Trust your gut. I learned through this process and working with insurance that they will usually allow a second opinion. We pay out of pocket to stick with our wonderful dentist but do get reimbursed. It's not the same as a cleaning being covered in full amd it will pull from our yearly maximum. However, I'm saving money by not having unnecessary work done.
