Detailed Introduction

Zion Benton Children's Service, also known as ZB Children's Service and operating the Lind Memorial Dental Clinic, is a long-standing non-profit organization established in 1951 by Olive Lind, a Zion school nurse. Initially known as the Zion Social Service, its mission has evolved to primarily focus on providing full dental care to children from low-income families in the Zion and Benton Townships, as well as nearby communities in Illinois. This includes serving children who are covered by state insurance (Medicaid) or are uninsured, addressing a critical need for accessible oral healthcare. The organization is governed by a dedicated board of directors drawn from diverse sectors of both townships, ensuring community representation and oversight. The board holds meetings at least four times a year, which are open to the public, promoting transparency and accountability. Financial records are rigorously examined annually by an independent public accountant, with reports submitted to the Illinois Attorney General, further demonstrating their commitment to ethical and responsible operation. Services offered by Zion Benton Children's Service are comprehensive, covering a wide range of essential dental procedures. These include school dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, X-rays, general exams, sealants, extractions, fillings, and pulpotomies. They also address dental emergencies, ensuring prompt care for urgent situations. The clinic actively accepts new patients and works with various Medicaid Managed Care Plans such as Harmony, Meridian, Aetna, Blue Cross Community, and ILLinicare Health, making their services accessible to a broad segment of the population. The clinic is located at 1245 27th St, Zion, IL 60099. Zion Benton Children's Service is supported by a variety of funding sources, including Medicaid, contributions from townships and individuals, local businesses, service clubs, the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County (HFNLC), and the Lake County Community Foundation. This diverse funding allows them to sustain their operations and continue their vital work in the community. Their dedication to children's dental health is a cornerstone of their service, aiming to improve the overall well-being of the youth they serve.

This place is so unprofessional and I don’t understand how this is a children’s dentist office and there’s no pediatric dentist on staff. They don’t have anything to accommodate children no laughing gas(nitrous) to help kids with having procedures done. The dentist are not kid friendly and rude they don’t have any strategies to help the kids feel comfortable. The dentist my kid seen just jammed the needle in the mouth without any kid friendly gesture or making it fun(kid friendly). I truly feel they get away with these things because they see mostly state patients and let’s be honest no one really cares about your well being when your on state(Medicaid).

I wouldn’t recommended this place to any mothers or fathers their horrible and should receive training on how to work with children. I only gave a one star rating because you have to give a star rating to leave a review but their not deserving of any stars. Horrible experience for my and my child we will not be returning.

So kind and sweet. My son couldn’t make it passed the X-rays. The dental assistant was so patient and kind talking him through it. Very nice staff. I didn’t meet the Dr but hopefully the staff and assistant are an indication of the Dr. I made an appointment for my daughter. Highly impressed
