I'm Dr. Andrew Monteith MacConnell, DDS, MIIF, DABOI/ID. I am the first dentist in Eastern Tennessee & the Tri-Cities Board Certified in Dental Implants. I am currently being honored as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (DABOI/ID). The American Board of Oral Implantatology was a 5 year goal of mine that required a total of 750 hours of completed continuing education. The certification is the biggest honor of my 35 year professional career. My educational background started in 1976. I graduated number 7 in my class at Ocean City High School in Ocean City, NJ. I then began my college years at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA; Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and Clemson University, SC. I was accepted under the early acceptance program at Emory University Dental School finishing in the top of my class where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1984. I studied at the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department where I completed a residency in IV Moderate Sedation. I have been a general dentist for 35 years. I started in private practice in June of 1984 in West Point, Georgia; I practiced there for 14 years. I also practiced Dentistry in Atlanta Georgia for many years. I am licensed as a dentist in Georgia and Tennessee. I studied dental implants with the Midwest Dental Implant Institute in Columbus, Ohio and completed their dental implant externship program in August of 2014 and then earned a fellowship from them shortly thereafter (MIIF). To continue serving the Tri-Cities region and growing professionally in my field of practice, I regularly travel nationally and internationally to lecture and learn to ensure the Tri-Cities has access to the most up to date advanced dental knowledge and technology for my patients such as the XNAV Dental Implant Computer Driven Guided Surgery, the same technology neurosurgeons and cardiac surgeons use. I have studied and performed surgery with the two dental legends; Dr. Hilt Tatum and Dr. Duke Heller. Dr. Heller, founder of the Midwest Implant Institute (MII). I am currently studying dental implantology internationally with the top implant dentists in the world at the Dr. Hilt Tatum Advanced Dental implant Institute in San Juan Puerto Rico.
