About
Dr. Frank Blacknall is a general dentist who has been practicing dentistry over 18 years. He is a graduate of The University of Tennessee Health Science Center's College of Dentistry in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to entering dental school, Dr. Blacknall began his distinguished military career in the United States Navy. Over the course of his 16 years in the Navy, Dr. Blacknall worked his way up through the ranks from a Seaman Recruit (E-1), gaining skills to become a Medical Corpsman and treating hundreds of Marines and Sailors. Dr. Blacknall has had the opportunity to serve our service men and women deployed in other parts of the world, such as Guam, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. As a Gulf War Veteran, he served as a field medical corpsman close to the front lines in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, helping to save the lives of several Marines critically injured from exploding grenades, as well as serving in a field hospital. Upon returning home and while completing his training as a general dentist at The University of Health Science Center, Dr. Blacknall accepted a commission as a Naval Dental Officer (O-1). As an active duty military dentist, Dr. Blacknall was responsible for the dental readiness of thousands of Marines serving at Camp Pendleton, California, ensuring that they were dentally qualified for deployment overseas. Dr. Blacknall's military career ended in 2003 when he resigned his commission at the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4E). He went on to pursue his career in private practice, relocating to the Kansas City area and starting a practice. As evidenced by his 16 years of military service to our country, Dr. Blacknall has a heart for service. He spent over 9 years of his dental career caring for underserved kids and young adults in and around the Kansas City area. He has worked with many outstanding individuals and agencies who have demonstrated the same compassion and concern for the "at risk" youth in our communities. Dr. Blacknall continues to work with such organizations as KVC, TLC, Oral Health Kansas and the Reach Foundation. In the summer of 2012 he sold his last practice and went on to open Oasis Dentistry in October 2012. With this new endeavor, Dr. Blacknall has created more of a "family" style practice, treating children and adults. However, he continues to provide full-service, compassionate dental care for the disadvantaged youth in our community.Dr. Blacknall's professional memberships include the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, and Progressive Orthodontics. He routinely pursues continuing education to provide the highest quality of professional care and services while utilizing some of the most advanced technology. In addition, he is an associate member in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. When not practicing dentistry or attending dentistry-related continuing education, Dr. Blacknall enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and three very actively young children. He also enjoys fitness activities, traveling, and fine dining while trying to maintain a commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
