I had a serious tooth emergency in January 2025. I called multiple dental emergency care providers in vain. UPMC wanted me to call them and make an appointment with dental emergency for another day. I finally chanced upon Dr. Sams. I have not looked back since. He saw me promptly. I went into his office in excruciating pain because of a recent and badly affixed crown that was causing all the agony. I came out with so much relief I can't describe it. In the subsequent days and weeks Dr. Sams attended to my tooth, did a root canal on it, Because of that faulty crown procedure almost all my tooth was worn out, but he managed to save it. I know now as I compare him to all my previous dentists, that Dr. Sams is an truly amazing, extremely skilled doctor and surgeon. If your tooth can be saved, Dr. Sams will save it. He does nothing that is unnecessary, just exactly what is needed to fix your problem. He is now my dentist for life. I filed my own insurance claim, it worked out fine.

I had an emergency tooth extraction back in August. Had to pay $355 out of pocket to Dr. Sams that day with the promise that he would file a claim to get me reimbursed through my insurance. It took 2 1/2 months and numerous calls to his office to get the claim form sent to me only to have my insurance issue the check to him because he "didn't complete the form correctly" and show that I paid him. Insurance claims he violated their agreement by not submitting directly to them and making me pay out of pocket. I'm now sitting around waiting for Dr. Sams office to contact insurance to state that I did pay out of pocket and should be reimbursed. If you're okay with not using your insurance and getting the run around from Dr Sams office, go ahead and use him.
