About
I enjoy helping people achieve a higher level of health by providing personalized, precise dental therapies and dental expertise for all my patients, young and not so young, and all stages of dental care. Through my Fellowship, research and continuing education, I am especially focused on medically complex and geriatric patients. Over the past 17 years, I have gained experience in many aspects of dentistry, from simple preventive care to complex restorative procedures. I am proud to offer a high standard of care whether I am placing a filling or creating a new, beautiful smile with a cosmetic dental makeover. Education and Continuing Education I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the Tamilnadu Medical University in Madras, India in 1996. After moving to the United States, I graduated as an advanced-standing student with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania with double honors. In addition, while at Penn, I did an honors program in pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I completed a Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2011. I have owned a private dental practice for 14 years. Presently I am a Clinical Associate for the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I have received awards for Outstanding Performance, Pre-Doctoral Endodontic Program and Honors Program, Medically Compromised Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I am involved in continuing education monthly to give my patients the highest standard of care. I attained an Associateship from the International Association of Orthodontics, completed an Implant Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), received my Certificate in Soft and Hard Tissue Grafting from the Medical University of South Carolina, and am currently on the Fellowship track for the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Oral Medicine. Medically Complex Patient Care Fellowship I am currently pursuing a fellowship in Medically Complex Patient Care at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. My studies are focused on medical conditions that can complicate dental treatment including diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis C, other infectious diseases, cardiovascular disease, renal disease and cerebrovascular disease. I am excited to be part of groundbreaking research, and will be among the top dentists in the area better trained for treating patients with medically complex conditions. Clinical Associate at the UPenn School of Dental Medicine I currently serve as a clinical associate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine's Department of Oral Medicine.Dental Sedation Certification. I am among a select group of dentists certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry for Anesthesia, Moderate Sedation. With this distinction, I am certified to perform Conscious IV Sedation Dentistry. I belong to the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Outside of the Office In my free time, I truly love teaching and learning. I also love spending time with my two daughters, our fabulous dog and new kitten. My daughters and I enjoy cooking together, learning new recipes as well as making traditional recipes. We also enjoy making organic household and personal care products, and when I get a private moment, I love to read.
