About
A lifelong Pittsburgher, Dr. Jason Choorapuzha grew up in Bloomfield. He attended the University of Pittsburgh on a full academic scholarship, earning a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Psychology. While there, he was a member of the Rowing Team. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DMD in 2010. During this time, he continued his relationship with the rowing team, serving as an assistant coach for 2 years. He served his class for two years as Vice President then two as President. He was also initiated into the Sigma Chapter of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity. In his fourth year, he received the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award. Upon graduation, Dr. Choorapuzha had the opportunity to attend a General Practice Residency in dentistry at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. During this one year residency program, he was deemed to have a top table clinic presentation at the Minnesota Dental Association's Star of the North Meeting with the speech, "Kidney Disease and the Dental Practitioner." Also during this time he met his wife, Lydia. They spent another 3 years in Minnesota before returning to Pittsburgh in the summer of 2014. Dr. Choorapuzha has spent his career educating patients so that they not only can trust him to take care of their oral health, but so that they can work with him to minimize their time in the dental chair. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and is never too busy to take a moment to enjoy a laugh with his staff and patients. Today he practices in the historic Pittsburgh suburb of Oakmont.
