Dr. John grew up in Indiana, PA and received the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Prior to dental school, he attended Allegheny College with a double-major in Neuroscience and Psychology. Dr. John loves practicing dentistry because it is the perfect blend of science and art.

Care Philosophy

We want to provide our Zelienople community and surrounding Pittsburgh areas, a dental practice that offers not just affordable care, but gentle care. We understand that many people have dental anxiety and we work well with such patients, supporting them through their initial visit and subsequent treatments, listening to their concerns, reassuring them that we truly do empathize, and showing that pain-free dental care is possible. Dr John is one of the absolutely BEST dentists I’ve ever been to (…and if you were to look at my teeth Xrays, you’d see I’ve been to many Dentists over the years.) I travel approx 90 min for each appt. And had a dental implant as well as a crown replacement that my “regular” dentist said couldn’t be fixed. His office staff is amazing too. Very accommodating and on top of everything. He’s not the cheapest but certainly worth the money. (I don’t have dental insurance but bought an “annual policy” thru their office that gave me a lower rate. Would highly recommend.

I have had five previous dentists during my life. I have to say that Dr John is the best. He is so amazing in his field. One patient I met was amazed after a root canal that was merely pain free. I would not recommend anyone else for dentistry!

DR. JOHN IS GREAT AND HE IS THE BEST AT GIVING NOVOCAINE. DON'T FEEL A PINCH AT ALL. STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY.

I had a very traumatic experience as a child with a dentist. I have always feared dentists after that experience. I would DEFINITELY recommend Dr. John Avolio to ANYONE! His staff was courteous and friendly. He himself was EXCELLENT. He recently put a crown on a tooth for me that was long overdue. He explained everything before he proceeded and it was virtually painless. He made me feel very comfortable and was very gentle, yet thorough at the task at hand. THE BEST.
